From the press release:
"We have commenced a national search to quickly find the next leader for App State Football."

My guess is they already have somebody in mind and/or have had conversations with a handful of prospects and that we will know something by the end of next week at the latest. That will give our new HC plenty of time to clean house, should he choose to, and bring in his own crew, plus get to recruiting ASAP.

We can speculate/guess on who it is all day long.

When do we expect to land a head coach? I recall the Shawn Clark hire (publicly) took a couple weeks. Maybe I am mistaken.
Before Christmas? 2 weeks? Sooner rather than later hopefully.
It has to be sooner than that because the portal opens soon. I bet we’ll know something within a week.
Luckily, Gillin has had much more time to think / search than when Drink left.

If anybody don't know what an oxymoron is, you can start with a quick national search.

Agreed. Just all PR jargon. They've got their eyes on somebody or a handful of somebodies already.

Sounds like we've had a three week head start.

Clark was hired (Dec. 13) four days after Drink left (Dec. 9). Recall that he was officially the full-time HC by the time the team left for New Orleans.

I don't know the answer to your question, though. Obviously not as simple to replace a fired coach as to just promote internally in a successful program.

The staff found out per twitter/X through Pete Thamel. - No coincidence in Pete Thamel releasing this tweet and DG/JR walking into the NEZ right before 2pm. DG is very calculated.

The players met with DG/JR/Sears at 2pm

A closed door meeting happened before 2pm with the GM of the program - most likely was given a temporary juicy contract for 45 days to keep recruiting class and players around.

Also earlier in the day apparently one NIL contact was meeting with players offering deals without knowing #TeamClark (Sad day for Shawn and family and his staff and their families) was being let go.

Not sure when Clark was told of the news, I would assume his agent was contacted and broke it to him, and most likely told him not to go into work or contact anyone based on small print in the buyout.

Interviews for the job will most likely start this week per zoom, then 4/5 will meet in CLT hotel with DG and his posse.

Very doubtful anyone comes to Boone until contract is signed and press conference is set, I am guessing by Dec 17 a coach will be named, therefore everyone can have a Merry Christmas.

Great time to be a High Country Real Estate agent!

Any potential for Buster Faulkner, OC at Georgia Tech? Has been involved with a lot of successful offenses around the Southeast at very different levels of CFB and still only 43. Not sure how antsy he would be to get a HC job if a bigger school like UGA would pay more to have him on staff as OC.

My Wishlist in no particular order.

Tremaine Jackson
Tre Lamb
Mike Jacobs

All three are under 45 years of age with a good track record thus far in their somewhat brief HC experiences. Also, wont break the bank like a former P5 guy.

I also floated a month ago, just out of speculation, a Patke/Watts trip up the hill.
