First, I hope that we somehow find the $$$ to pay the next HC a 7 figure salary like some of our SB brethren are doing. So, let's hope a good choice is made to move the program forward again. The NIL donors will be a big part of getting transfers in that can swing things quickly. I don't think we need to temper expectations just because we have a new coach next year. Not like anyone has to build a program back over time like in years past. It can be done overnight nowadays. Indiana is a good example of that. I do understand the $ amounts will probably be a lot different P4 vs G5 level. Going to be an interesting journey into next fall.

Sad? He isn't dead folks.... he can still go coach somewhere. He had 5 years here to do his job. He makes about 15 times more a year than I make and I get shot at. He's made millions, got a half a mill buyout, got to coach here, and can retire if he wanted to. College football is a business these days. Its just business.... Now, someone make the call to Mike Jacobs and lets get moving.

Yep it’s sad. No not dead. He is a Mountaineer, played here an alumni a Mountaineer. He is one of us. Something absolutely needed fixing but I find no joy in this. I’m hopeful the next guy will knock it outside from the get go. SC will survive, he has good connections but yeah it sucks a fellow Mountaineer had to be cut loose.

If you listen to most of Shawn's pressers where he talked about the standard being the standard, competing for championships and how the head coach always takes responsibility, he made the case for his dismissal pretty clear.

He is an App State alum, and former All-American. There is a duality here where you preach performance, preach the standard, helped set the standard, yet couldn’t maintain it.

I feel bad for his family.

You are right, there are a lot of schools that would be thrilled with that but we are not a lot of schools when it comes to football. We are App State and we expect more.

You also have to go back and look at Satterfield’s record and then Drinkwitz to compare. You’ll see the slippage.

Clark was a coach of surprising upside victories but more surprising downside losses. He had ample time to have his name stamped firmly on the results, which are subpar for the last 40 years. If he'd made the "right" and obvious decisions in about 15 crucial points in ballgames during the last 5 years, he'd still be coaching APP. I'm not going to revel in his dismissing, but it was needed. I don't feel sorry for him because he's like made more money for himself than likely any of us on here in his short career and has secured his future, he will continue to make good money as an O Line coach somewhere. Next coach up, is going to have a tough job for a year or so, glad there is a portal to pull from, because we'll likely see some unwanted turnover.

I don’t have to be “anti-Shaw Clark” to have wanted a change. I’m actually very much pro Shawn Clark. I have wanted nothing but the best for him and I continue to want nothing but the best for him and his family.

The standard has been set. It’s not a pipe dream like some other programs have. It does take the right staff to meet the standard. The current one didn’t cut it.
