Folks it’s going to be Neal Brown
I’ve read that he’s definitely a candidate, but I really I’m not impressed with him. The only good thing he’s done recently is make WVU garbage.
WVU wasn't great before him, and that was pre-NIL. Dana had a few good years but was mostly in the.500 range as well. They don't have the resources many of the P4 schools have and it showed when they played ranked teams.
Can someone, please, explain to me why Neal Brown makes sense now but Rich Rodriguez was a dumb in 2019?

Probably because of rich rods questionable personal morals, his numerous NCAA violations, and the allegations of misconduct at Arizona.

By all accounts Neal Brown runs a clean program and is a great person. Not totally sold on brown but that would be why.

Anybody got tabs on WVAppeer? I’m sure he’s a roller coaster of emotions.

Anyone hearing rumors that DJ Smith might be in the running for HC? I know he is at Mizzu, but not sure he has been coaching long enough.

No I don't. He can coach, clearly wanted to, and would have been around for 4-5 years. And we wouldn't be rebuilding now.

He comes with baggage. And you’ve mentioned him multiple times over the years. And you have no way of knowing whether we’d be rebuilding now or not. That’s pure speculation. Maybe we hire him and maybe he’s amazing, but there had to be reasons why he wasn’t looked at.

That's fair. But I really feel like I was the only person in December of 19 willing to ask questions about the Clark hire.

For real. I'll be bummed if we default to another App guy. This is the time for new blood.

I can only think of App guys. Just love them as people.

Justin Stepp? Technically not an App guy, but did coach here.

DJ has 3 years as Co-defensive coordinator. Former successful NFL player. Good recruiter. Former linebackers, especially middle linebackers, make good coaches as they are basically the coach on the field during games. There may be better options, but I’ve seen more worse options mentioned in this thread
