Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
Satt wanted his staff to be the highest paid not himself. That was a reasonable request given their success.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 7:44 amTo everyone that quoted me after yesterday's breakdown,
I never said Clark was mistreated but here is what all of you need to understand - when outside folk see he went 40-24 beat 3/4 ranked teams and has limited NIL and other small issues that are big things - it may deter a top notch candidate from accepting.
Since 2018/2019 3 different Head Coaches and how many different assistant coaches have walked the sidelines of KBS(more than we can count) we can agree on this...
It's a known fact Satt wanted to stay if he was made highest paid in SBC, DG refused.
It's a known fact Drink and DG butted heads, barely spoke at times in his 1 year. Only 2 Drink assistants wanted to stay back, Clark and Watts.
It's a known fact Satt told Ledford not to take the job in 2019.
You have zero idea how many other staffers have spread the word in coaching circles of how the infrastructure support isn't there that the outside world (like 99% of you guys) think is there.
Coaches talk to other coaches - the aforementioned things get out in coaching circles.
Some of you won't understand any of this because you refuse to have an open mind.
If Neal Brown accepts the job I'd be shocked, rarely ever does the first offer take it.

Oh man, we are reaching. I wouldn’t mind Loggains, but Gamecock fans weren’t originally happy with that hire at all. They might have changed their tune though after their successful year, but that’s more credit to the defense than the offense.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 9:37 amUpdate:

Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
Loggains' NFL career was spent as an offensive/QB quality control or coach with teams that have had little to no success at offense or QBs. Bears, Jets, Miami, Titans....I'd say his only success would be the last 6 games of this season. Pass for me.

It is going to be interesting to seeing how much of a priority prior head coaching experience comes into the decision process. I prefer a P5 coordinator or prior HC experience at a minimum.

Galloway has ties here so you at least owe him an interview. He also checks some other boxes for a public institution when doing a job search.

I would imagine there have been small talks in the last 72 hours with at least a dozen or agents of a dozen.
4 that I know of for sure -- always multiple it by 3. Neal Brown is probably less than 20% at this point, If SMU wins how much can Casey get by beating Clemson, 2million a year as OC, he probably stays at SMU.
So now this is where the search pivots and all I have been saying previously comes into play.
Just remember #TEAMCLARK beat Curt Cignetti, Jamey Chadwell, Jimbo Fisher, Billy Napier, 1 dropped extra point from beating Mack Brown.... just saying - the expectations for the new guy is through the roof!

Doesn't sound like anyone to get excited about currently and that may be the reality of our next coach.

Serious question. What would you consider to not be a reach? I’m not saying that these would be my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice, but it might be what we are down to through interest, background checks or guys pulling their names from consideration. There are a lot of moving parts and a lot of what we know is based on speculation of what might have occurred.311neers wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 9:48 amOh man, we are reaching. Shawn Elliott is a better option than either of these two.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2024 10:04 amSerious question. What would you consider to not be a reach?
