Re: Dowell Loggains
I have in-laws that are gamecocks and they are laughing their asses off in my texts. They are happy to be rid of him. I've been hearing about him for a while from them.
Hes lost every damn place he has been and has been REPEATIDLY fire. GD DG if this is the best we can bring to Appalachian State then I'm worried about the programs future. Our offense was ranked better than his for all those saying SC was a hot program. If you want to know why they are winning it's because they have a top 10 level defense.
As I said in the other thread I will pull for success as I support everything App State but I am not happy with this. Whatever. Unimpressed. I'm off for the night.
Im sitting here in an App hoodie. It's still great to be a mountaineer. I'm going to pour some whiskey in my App turvis while the inlaw cocks keep texting me.

Re: Dowell Loggains
Only thing I can hope for is some coaches are clearly better position coaches than head coaches.
Hopefully, in this case, it's a scenario where he's a better head coach than coordinator. Because his resume as a coordinator is not great.

Re: Dowell Loggains
That all depends on which USC fans you talk to. I'm in SC and they're not too happy about him leaving.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Same here. Just talked to a member of the SC BOT that lives here in the neighborhood. He is “sad to see him go.”

Folks help me out here, seriously. Where are you coming up with all this pessimism and your use of vitriol. In laws? Wikipedia? Gamecock fans? Something someone said? A hunch? I am all ears!

Not sure how to feel. Definitely not as excited as I would’ve been for some of the names that had been thrown around. He was the OC for a middle of the pack SEC team and pretty terrible everywhere else. However, he’s obviously got connections in NFL and college, so hopefully he brings some great coordinators.
Guess it’s just “wait and see” now.

The next time I see a reasonable Gamecock fan will be the first.

He’s our coach now and deserves a chance, but he has a resume and it’s not very pretty at any of the many places he has been previously.

One of our own had ample time to perform and didn’t. What is the downside? Continue to be mediocre?

We averaged 26 points a game and USC averaged 31 points a game. How is App “ranked” better?appdaze wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:16 pmI have in-laws that are gamecocks and they are laughing their asses off in my texts. They are happy to be rid of him. I've been hearing about him for a while from them.

Re: Dowell Loggains
I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the product on the field next year; going to give him a chance; we needed to do something, to make a change, and we did it; maybe this is the right move, maybe not. The vibe I get is this could go any which way; disaster, mediocre, great...idk. I want to see the press conference. I like what I read in Stonewall's post.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned was that while his resume hasn't had a lot of success, he was coaching for mostly bad teams. (Counter argument, they were bad in part bad b/c of his coaching.) But Bears, Dolphins, Jets...come on; who DOES win in those places? He did help win this year at South Carolina, which is about as hard of a place to win as anywhere.
This past week I've been excited about App football again for the first time in several years; booked hotel for Boise; going to take off work for UNCC. Let's give him a chance.
