And I can have mine. I just wish people would chill out on the immediate judgment, knowing nothing of the man except what’s on paper.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:37 pmAnd people can have that opiniongoapps93 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:36 pmBecause he’s already being written off and the sky is falling.

I’m going to withhold judgment until the press conference on Monday and we hear more about his staff. I’m not excited for the hire, but I wasn’t for Drink, either.
Loggain’s resume isn’t extremely impressive, but not really sure how relevant it is to our situation.
It’s not Petrino, so I’m at least going to keep donating next year

I'll take your word for it. Not being sarcastic. I think my concerns are more with DG at this stage.

After all the names that we were supposed to be interested in for this position, it seems like he was a little late in the process. He may turn out to be a great hire. If it is a done deal, it will be interesting to see who he fills the staff with and I hope they are great recruiters as well as coaches. No matter what, I expect to be in my seat again next season.

Everyone is comparing his resume to Ted Roof, and I agree it's similar. But please remember we had the #4 defense in the nation under Roof. Granted, we didn't hire Roof as head coach.

Thanks for the insight. This is the best I feel about a HC hire since Satterfield.

Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
I really think we need a new AD. This hire just isn't impressive at all, and I don't care about how well he interviewed. He has a track record for his career and it is less than impressive. IF the rumors are true and DG has known for at least several weeks that we were going to need a new head coach and this is the best that he can do, no thank you. This hire is a bust from day one. There is nothing in this guy's resume that screams, "we need him as our next coach at App State" If this is really the best that we can get, we all need to take a serious reality check and realize that we must not be the coaching destination that we seem to believe we are. I can't believe this hire.

Maybe we couldn’t meet financial terms for some candidates, but I believe Loggains was making 1 million at SC, so I would imagine we got his base salary to at least that. Great interviews have often not panned out in my profession. Some folks sell themselves much better than they perform. I’m hopeful that a G5 head coach role is how Loggains proves himself, though.

His son was pretty good too.
I guess I’ll try and be cautiously optimistic.
Dg does have a good track record. It looks like uncc is going to get Albin out of Ohio. Has 3 10 win seasons in the MAC recently (and best south Alabama while holding them to 20 pts this year) mac champion and coach of the year. That’s the kind of resume I was hoping for

I'm excited it not Shawn Clark. I no nothing about the new guy or his record. He has a clean slate and 5 years of crap to clean up. Portal will be his friend if he can get them. We shall see. Honestly I'm concerned regardless of who was/is going to coach football next season is walking in to bare cupboards. Good luck to the guy! Like hom or not he's our guy for now.AppStateDieHard wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:37 pmWhat, exactly, is there to be excited about with this hire????goapps93 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 5:36 pmBecause he’s already being written off and the sky is falling.

Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
No, I’m sometimes on an interview team that gives input, but the team’s opinions rarely matter. I was implying more along the lines of people I’ve encountered that are completely full of crap and decent at selling themselves…they tend to impress gullible folks who fall for every sales pitch. Proof is in pudding pretty quickly, but I work in a profession where it’s difficult to get rid of those folks. Not necessarily the case with our new HC, but it sounds like he was hired primarily due to his sales pitch over resume. I’d love to know who the other serious finalists were and if we just couldn’t afford them/they backed out, etc.

Re: Realistic coaching options for 2025...
He was a mess when he first got here and wasn't meshing well with the veteran leaders we had in the locker room. But once that worked itself out, he was a solid DC for this team.
