Re: Fire Gillin
If he can't recruit it doesn't matter what fancy play he calls.
per he's wikipedia page :
Loggains was hired as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the University of South Carolina on December 13, 2022. His contract is three years long with a salary of $1 million per year.[16][17] In 2023, his offense ranked 12th out of 14 teams in the SEC in points per game and last in the SEC in rushing yards per game. [18]
South Carolina struggled to begin the 2024 season, being ranked as of the worst offensive teams in the SEC through the first five games. Despite the early difficulties, the team finished 9–3 and with the third-best rushing offense in the conference.
not a ringing endorsement from the wikipedia
Good opportunity for the guy. Time will tell.. tailgates are still what it's all about in Boone.
#TEAMDOWELL time??? not sure I can't get behind that one.

You should have been on the committe to find a coach. You know so much about this guy and coaching hires. Can you share his actual resume and references with us or are you just a googler? I know you are disappointed. Maybe a good night's sleep will help.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 6:21 pmThis guy will be a bust, it is a terrible hire regardless of how well he can interview. He has a track record, please show me where in that record that he ever won big. Sure, SC is decent this year but it is because the defense keeps them in every game. HIs offenses have been inconsistent. He has mainly been an NFL guy, can he recruit? He spent a lot of years in the NFL and only 1 of the teams he coached finished over 500, only 1! He hasn't won big anywhere. I am so disappointed by this hire. I get that he had an impressive interview, but it shouldn't override his less than stellar resume.

Re: Fire Gillin
Perhaps I should have if our guys let an impressive interview overcome an unimpressive resume. The fact that this guy has rarely ever even been a part of a winning football team is a huge concern for me. Winning is contagious but so is losing. I feel that coaches who are consistently part of losing programs tend to get used to losing and it seems to follow them throughout their careers. Perhaps they lack the drive, desire or it has just been beaten out of them through multiple losing seasons, but whatever the reason losing seems to be contagious. We don't need any more losing in our football program. My main problem is that I just don't see anything in his resume that suggest to me that he has learned how to build a winning program, especially at a school where resources are not akin to the NFL or SEC. Our program is down and we need a rebound, just don't see that in his resume.ASU843 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:05 pmYou should have been on the committe to find a coach. DG seems to have a pretty solid record. I’ll be first to admit I don’t pay as much attention outside of football and basketball but what bad hires has he made? Capel and women’s basketball standout…. Clark was forced on him but the first 2-3 years was a good fit for the program. I tend to trust him and his decision making so far.

Every single social media post I’ve seen on the new HC, South Carolina fans are ecstatic about him leaving…. That gives zero reassurance about him getting App back to their winning ways.

And most App fans wanted Steve Wilks and are pissed it wasn’t him.
Point being, 99.9% of people posting on social media don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. I quit paying any attention to twitter/facebook/etc years ago. Almost exclusively loud mouth morons

If you jump on yet one more firing a guy thread and your criteria is based on social media rantings by fans of probably one of THE most delusional and insane programs in college football then I have nothing that will bring you in off the ledge. Did any of you actually attend our game in Columbia a few years ago? Did you actually get a taste of the insanity in that stadium?

It actually doesn’t take much searching to find a lot of folks, SC fans included praising Coach Loggains.

Re: Fire Gillin
Here is the bottom line:
After the South Alabama loss, most likely Gillin knew he probably needed to start preliminaries on finding a new coach.
So you have had since September 19th/20th to start small talks and research candidates 'QUIETLY'.
Then once they had a losing record after Ga Southern loss it turns into 'GO' time for Gillin.
This guy may turn out to be really good, none of us knows. But I just don't believe you firs a coach and just settle for the OC at USC, seems kinda blah to me. Gillin needed a home run on this one to turn the fan base but not sure he hit this hire out of the infield. Hence the thread we are on now.
Good luck to Dowell.
