We need higher paying degrees ASAP. More disposable income to donate and give.
Apparently that doesn’t help. Look at Wake Forest with all those doctors and lawyers as alumni. And they still don’t have great funding.
How many of those Doctors & Lawyers went to Undergrad at Wake? I have always been of the opinion, undergrad is where the passion for a university is established.

Have a very longtime Family Friend that did… but as he says he went to “Trade” School (law) at UNC. He holds zero allegiance to chapel hill. Their support goes to Wake.
Even stronger than that is a place you grew up going to games at, living in, and being in and around for a variety of school functions, extracurricular, etc.

I agree, undergrad holds the passion of most fans. I barely even follow my post graduate school even though it is where I met my wife and started my family. App holds all my passion.
Honestly when I look at the landscape of College sports I honestly think the field is leveling. All the so called big schools are dealing with the same thing only at a higher level. I think we’ll be fine.
My friend the gap between P4 and G5 has NEVER been WIDER,

In fact the GAP between the SEC/BIG10 against the ACC & Big 12 has never been wider!!

Why do you think FSU and Clemson want out of the ACC.
FSU just went 2-10.
Clemson just went 0-2 vs the SEC.

Probably best to stay in their lane if they want to win and have an easy path to playoff. If they want money, sure, leave.
The Money Train Lane is the only lane these days to stay in.....

Good. This is really going to be the first test of Dowell dealing with an unequal playing field in terms of pay. In the NFL and at SC, you can compete on cash so you deal with other factors. That’s not the case in the G5.

Part of me was hoping that the OSU and Boise games were a test case to see how fans would respond to those match-ups, and what viewership looked like, for a potential spot in what will undoubtedly be the Top G5 conference.

I imagine that the AAC would disagree with you.

They may try, but the PAC pairs the best of the MWC with OSU and WSU, which is clearly better than the AAC, heck the SBC was higher than the AAC in Massey in 2023 and 2024. The CUSA call ups into the AAC are dragging them down big time, that conference has some solid teams, but more dogs. The PAC won't have that issue.

The PAC-2 Cherry-picked the Mountain West when The Mountain West kept the PAC-2 alive.

Call it whatever you’d like, but statistically that conference will be the fifth highest rated conference by a good margin over the SBC and AAC.

I wonder how often a person that worked in the NFL for X number of years, coached in the SEC 3 seasons, sat around and thought or even wrote down in a journal like many LEADERS or future Head Coaches do,
''who will I hire or how will my staff look like if I get the App State job' ?

Now some of you will understand what I am getting at with that post, and the ones that don't, well not much we can do for you.

Is there any new staff hires lately - that has more than 5 years coaching and recruiting experience at the FBS level??

Define "lately" ...are you stating since DLo hiring, since Clark was hired, or last 15 years?

Just a guy with a motive. Claims to be a diehard App fan, but deep down almost hopes this hire fails, so he can get his rocks off saying told you so.

Getting old and kinda weird, honestly.

First two assistants announced have been GAs. They may be great young coaches ready to excel in their first position coach gig, but with a first time head coach and 2 former GAs now on board I hope we can get some bonafide experience on board soon.

I get that Captain Obvious --

My question is are there any hires that have experience that will make us stand up and have confidence in the future???

The Yurachek hire is favor to his dad who is the AD at Arkansas -- turned the App State AD job down in 2015 when DG was hired. He was the guy, pulled out to remain at Houston, was promoted to Houston and then on to Arkansas.

A experienced FBS Def Co hire would be nice before New Years.
