Based on what Gillin said he wanted it would seem like he ignored Lamb but others like Woods and Brown did not have the same background. I also heard a rumor about a bad background check too but not sure if that prevented at least an interview. Maybe someone in the media could ask why Lamb was never contacted and see if Gillin is willing to tell the reason in this particular case.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 9:45 amYes.NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 9:04 amDo you know if he wanted to be interviewed by App?ericsaid wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:33 pmI heard Lamb would still be at ETSU In four years when App’s next hire hits it big, and then we could re-evaluate.
Oh wait, he’s in Tulsa, getting paid more, yet wasn’t even interviewed by App.
Logic checks out. What’s done is done. I’m not optimistic. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Make all of the excuses you want for why the entirety of the resume is less than mediocre, but you are what your record says you are.
Never got a text or a call from App.

Re: Clark
If you go back and look at the presser, Doug laid out his criteria for a new head coach and Lamb does not check those boxes. Gillin was looking for someone that could navigate the new landscape and Lamb has not.

Re: Clark
Gillin interviewed people like Neal Brown and Casey Woods who did not have a NFL background like Loggains so that is why I say he might want to ask. Gillin would have to interview Lamb to know his plan. Lamb and Brown both have been head coaches in the portal era but Loggains has not been a head coach in any era. That is why I think there was something beyond that as to why Lamb did not get an interview and the rumor I heard on background check would explain it.

Potential news on coach Clark
Sources: UCF is hiring former Appalachian State head coach Shawn Clark as the school's new offensive line coach. Clark went 40-24 as the head coach at App State from 2020 to 2024. He's worked as the OL coach at Purdue, Kent State and App State earlier in his career.

Herb Hand got 500k as OL this year. Not a bad spot for him to land.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 9:04 amPotential news on coach Clark

Congrats Coach! He will thrive back in the OL role. Just curious, does his new salary negate what we owe him? Would love to reinvest that into the program (NIL & salaries)

We made the right move and I’m happy we did, but funny how people on the outside can look at that resume and see a positive. In fact someone on here posted all the accomplishments and even to me it looked impressive. But, being a fan that witnessed the full picture puts it into perspective.hapapp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 10:30 amIts being very well received on the UCF board.

Some are going to say I’m stupid again, and I know App was Clark’s dream job, but getting a very solid coaching job doing something he’s great at and being a stone’s throw away from “the happiest place on Earth” seems like a very solid rebound.

Re: Clark
SC is gonna go down to Florida and live in a nice home, clearing +$500k a year without any of the stress of running a program. Just gets to coach what he knows and loves. Happy for him.

Wonder if his salary will counter the buyout and we end up not having to pay him for more than a couple months, if at all?

Re: Clark
I have looked at many message boards of other school's fan bases and I like this one the best. It is so much easier to navigate than the others and you do not have a few people in the comments. Many people on Yosef's Cabin comment on everything. It must be that Appalachian education. Most people even proofread their posts before they post and if not, someone corrects them. As always it is great to be a Mountaineer. The Mountaineers that are not afraid to go to Huntington.hapapp wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 10:30 amIts being very well received on the UCF board.

I believe there is an offset but haven’t looked as to the details. It is likely UCF or whoever would manage it to their advantage.

Can any of us begin to imagine what his kids have endured, living in a small town during the team’s struggles and dealing with their dad being fired from a high-profile job?
A fresh start for him and his family. What a blessing, and well-deserved.

Re: Clark
Great news for SC. I think this is a good move for him. New environment away from Boone and Nc with an opportunity to do what he is really good at. I hope he thrives.
I didn’t think ETSU would have been a smart career or personal move for him and his family. Too close to recent past and a step backward career wise.
OL coach at FBS is better for him and future career.

Re: Clark
Well in that case if Clark is family, why didn’t he resign when he knew we wanted to go in another direction?AppStateDieHard wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 11:33 amWhy do we not want to pay Clark? I don’t get it. Even if the new salary technically offset his buyout, that guy is family.
To be clear I’m not saying he should have but every dollar we save is one we can spend on the program.

Re: Clark
Yes because you sitting in section 221 can evaluate his ability to be an offensive line coach more than guys who are actually coaching. Clark was and is not some failure as a coach. You didn’t like him as you made known repeatedly. He’s gone and we areappbio91 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 10:44 amWe made the right move and I’m happy we did, but funny how people on the outside can look at that resume and see a positive. Going in another direction. But he played at app, and gave his all to App. Don’t really get why you feel the need to dump on Clark even
More. Seems like you’d be the happiest dude in town we are moving on, but yet still with the pointless negative Clark posts
