Yep. P4 teams like Oklahoma will spend more on backups than most team can on starters. It happens every cycle. If you asked every kid 20,30,40 or 50 years ago what they wanted from a football scholarship how many would honestly have said a degree, a chance to be on a championship team and a shot at the NFL? The farther back you go the more would answer yes to the first one and the second with understandably several on the NFL (even with the odds against them). Now it’s more likely getting paid over the degree and championship answer. Young people have many different reasons to move around but to leave Duke and move across the country to play at a school basically not in a conference has to be completely money based. It makes you wonder what the percentage of players ever completing a degree and actually graduating will be going forward. How on earth does a guy on his 4th school actually graduate?
