Be cautious of these NFL back to college hires, Robert Nunn was one that didn't work out under #TeamClark, Dale Jones wanted to hire him, they were friends from years ago.

Nunn was always focused on getting back into the NFL, wanted his retirement pension, needed 1 year. He struggled with college recruiting and mentoring time with college players. In the pros everyone shows up to work and does their job and goes on about their way, college is 24/7 365.

I think the NFL knows this and puts hiring freezes on a lot of these 10-15 year coaches to avoid that pension payments.

The new staff salary pool will be something to see, what is DG giving CDL to work with, obviously way more than the previous coaches had.

This is a very good point. I like having some people with a NFL background as long as they have been in college a while and understand what this level is like as well. Success at one level does not guarantee it at another level. I agree with you that Nunn struggled for sure and we need people who can recruit. We also need people who can get QB and OL evals right because we have struggled with that lately. Hopefully DL is going to make changes in recruiting by the summer as well.

He had a down year but I think we are going to find out if it was really on him or possibly coaching or what. Even if he blows it up at UCLA it does not take away the struggles at App but for him he is lucky to get this extra year to make those corrections.

Damn folks, any chance you can bail on the anti Joey stuff? Why keep hashing it over and over? Do you have to make the comment to show you were right and everyone else was wrong? The kid did a lot of good things for us. Not always good decisions, but how many QB’s do you see in a year do better? A few?

You have Coach DLo with NFL experience. Dj Smith with NFL experience. Now Curtis Fuller with NFL experience. I don't think we have ever had a coaching staff with this much NFL experience. I know that doesn't always translate to college but all these guys have coached college as well..... I think DG and App State may have went all in on this round of coaching. We might reach heights we have never reached before. When DLo was first announced I wasn't convinced but now I just can't believe the NFL coaching talent we have.

Depends on the dough. If you excel and then transfer the payout is bigger than buried on a depth chart. Just trying to dream of any scenario where we stay halfway relevant. Agree not likely.

Gillin recently said having 39 transfers, as the 2024 team did, was too many. So I would wager we see more high school kids signing.

Assuming you mean Belichick, it won' even be close when he is done. He has much more money to play with and his name alone puts the Holes ahead in the game. Not to mention he's bringing with him and NFL GM. Highly doubt App is trying to counter anything he does. Working on two different levels.

Agreed. My hope , as a fan, is for App. St. to be good enough to be the G5 rep in the playoff from time to time as long as G5 has an opportunity. The every year hope is to win the SBC regular season and championship.

With all due respect to Gillin, not sure I care that much about what he thinks about the number of transfers…. Jerry Jones. What’s his coaching record?? Just need to continue to raise more NIL and $$$$.
