247 lost all independence as “news” provider and instead became state media propaganda for Clark as they were buddies and he likewise censored whoever wasn’t aligned. I left the site for about a year and signed back up the day Clark was fired.
It’s clear his valuable contacts are gone and honestly the cabin provides better information currently. I’m sure that will change, but hoping Dowell treats him like Drink did so he’s able to actually critique the football program when needed without fear of having his tee time canceled.

Our 247 sports coverage used to be better until the Rivals guy took it over with the CBS merger. The guy that runs it now is very clearly not a journalist and is buddy buddy with the staff (at least old staff) so he won't ask anything to jeopardize that.

I get it, but it's not reporting. Anybody paying for that site is wasting money as it's all regurgitated recycled data you can always find elsewhere before they release it.

Not discounting your thought but I would be willing to bet that we have a bunch of scholarship players who get little to nothing in NIL money. But that’s just a complete guess. Isn’t it interesting that with the money being all “above board” now we still know little to nothing about how much money is changing hands.

There were only about 10 guys getting deals last year.

Wonder how long it will take the OL to get pissed off that the QB is getting several million in NIL while they get around $5,000? The QB's numbers are only as good as the line is blocking for him. I just threw out those numbers and doesn't apply to App or could it but with other NIL amounts. Players will get jealous at some point they aren't making the same. It happens all the time in the business world.

There is certainly the possibility that NIL disparity can adversely affect team chemistry and the locker room; and is something that has to be managed.

How do you manage it?

Pro athletes will simply need to understand that some positions earn more money than other positions. These guys are pro athletes, right?

I saw MJohn’s response and that’s pretty much it. There needs to be some clear communication that not all roles are valued the same from a monetary stance.

I’m glad we got Swann! He has been a target for a few weeks and we were able to beat out Jax State.

FYI - I mentioned his name a few days ago. I mentioned him on the 24/7 sports website also and then was reprimanded by that “reporter”. Guess we know who really has sources these days.

I tend to agree with this. I will say I respect 24/7 but there seems to be a lot of censorship happening over there. Not easy for mods patrolling either of these message boards. I'm sure its been said before but I think on both sites people would have a different tone if it was face to face with some of the things that are said to each other. I myself stepped back not posting a lot and just reading and damn - sh#t gets personal. I know I was at fault as well in some instances.

Don’t wanna turn this into an App 247 critique thread, so I’ll try and keep it positive. If you want to see how a 247 site should be run then take a look at Stephen Igoe over at ECUs 247 site. Regular articles with good information shared. Not much extra posting by him preaching at his membership. And most importantly to me, you actually get inside info that you pay for in real time, rather than post mortem coverage that you tend to get at the App 247 site, which I feel typically tends to be just conjecture for the most part.

What’s most disappointing to me is sites like that are how you can grow a fan base. Feels like a wasted opportunity that I wish could be rectified in some way. We just have such little coverage of the nuts and bolts of the football program when compared to schools like ECU, NCSU, and UNC. Which all have fantastic 247 sites.

Good post! BUT, just like everything else, we could/should do so much better.
