Two best performances of the year back to back. Can we keep it rolling against JMU?

NattyBumppo'sRevenge:
“Coastal seems pretty bad. How’d they win 8 games.”
They won 8 games because they still follow the Cliff Ellis philosophy of scheduling. Look at their schedule. You’ll always find a school or two there that you’ve never heard of or a school that you never knew played basketball. It’s pitiful. Sometimes we do that.

Re: CONWAYs Twitty Birds to the frozen Holmes
Tate and CJ have emerged as the leaders. Dodd and Beaubrun appear to have solidified themselves as productive starters. Conners probably is 5th starter. Marcus is gonna be dangerous once he gets confidence down low, his 3 stroke is gonna be a problem for teams as it was for Coastal. Threadgill may not be a scoring threat but he’s a good defender and makes good decisions. Muttilib had a great sequence tonight, too. Even though we struggled early and will probably have more bumps in the road, this team is heading in the right direction. Now if we can just get JJ Kohl on the court…

His recruiting profile says he was a 3 sport athlete and played above the rim. Must be a high flier!

A 2 sport star at App would be a legend.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 11:12 pmTo your last sentence…NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 10:46 pmTate and CJ have emerged as the leaders. Re: CONWAYs Twitty Birds to the frozen Holmes
Good win. Kenpom has Tate as the best statistical player in the conference (not suprising). He's shooting over 40% from 3-PT which is ridiculous.
Big matchup against JMU. If it goes well the team probably moves back into Top 4 of the conference. App has one of the weakest Sunbelt SOS moving whereas Troy/South Alabama/JMU all facing a more difficult path. This upcoming with two JMU games / four total on the road will be a big one.

Not sure there is going to be much difference in conference schedules this year. The entire league is down compared to the past couple of years.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 3:17 amGood win. Defense. And we do have a couple of guys playing as well as anyone I see in the Sunbelt. Keep that going as others blend in and contribute….

Their defense was pretty stout last night and against Texas St. It seems they learned from previous games and made an emphasis to guard the 3 better. You can also tell film was studied for this game as the bigs for us were open for 3 all night long

Yep, the D around the 3 point line has been better....and some of it is maybe due to last two opponents are not as good offensively as Troy.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 8:50 amTheir defense was pretty stout last night and against Texas St. It seems they learned from previous games and made an emphasis to guard the 3 better. I feel like if 7 can get better on D down low, it will help on perimeter D as they know they have help. Abson was so good last year in standing his ground and not reaching in D. 7 has improved as season as progressed in that department.
Hopefully it is not just the last two opponents not being the top of conference..it appears that the team is coming together We have only played Troy of the teams with a better record than us in conference. I am excited to see what we got next couple of weeks.

Winning at home vs. JMU before a four game road trip is paramount. Also JMU plays at Marshall tonight which should help us in the second half Saturday.

Re: CONWAYs Twitty Birds to the frozen Holmes
Feel like the team is starting to gel at the right time. The D seems to be improving and they’ve shot the lights out the past couple of games. May find it difficult to replicate the shooting away from Holmes so it’s paramount the D travels and if they aren’t hitting from the outside, get to the rack! If they continue improving, no one will want to face them in the SBC tourney.

421 from Wilkesboro to Boone is closed. Wonder if other highways impacted..and impacting JMU getting to Boone
