We will be running more 4-2-5 so the need is bigger for an DT and DE coach vs an ILB and OLB coach.

Is that not what the Star we were just running essentially was? Or is the thought the reason it wasn't good is because we needed the dline to be better? As the season went on, they got better it seemed.

It was very similar but our Star package was still technically a 3-3-5 with two ILBs and one OLB. We shifted away from that star package and ran more 3-3-5 Nickel towards the end of the season which had more success. The Nickel package just swapped the hybrid DB (star) out for a more traditional DB.

Ultimately, our base in 2025 will likely be a 4 man front but there will probably be variations similar to the Nickel package used this past season.

Coach Haines is now on staff at unc-concord. Similar role as he had here. Hate to say it, but this ain’t gonna be the same charlotte in a few years. They have a good coach and possibly a program builder. That said, they still suck.

Was he fired or left on his own? Either way, I am thinking it had something to do with the likelihood of bringing on Christensen in some capacity. As I assume both are off the field roles

I enjoy reading information with the context of understanding the sources intentions.

Others had concerns in 2019, then after the 2021 bowl game, then in 2022, then in early 2023, then in 2024. You ignored those at every turn, apologies for some on here ignoring yours less than 30 days into DL's tenure.

1. Robinson tore his ACL and meniscus 2 months ago. He is still injured and rehabbing. That’s not a “gotcha” that you think it is.

2. Perhaps those players don’t fit into Dowell’s system? Perhaps Dowell knows what type of people/player they are and doesn’t want them here? Should Dowell just take players from SC or take the best players he can get in the portal? Example - Ashford vs Swann/Kohl. Besides, several players from Arkansas have transferred to App which directly refutes the point you are attempting to make.

3. He did coach in the NFL. He SHOULD know things. He’s the head coach for a reason!

Lance being fired surprised me a little in that he was huge in recruiting for us but when there is a coaching change you expect it. I will be interested to see if Speir stays because I could see that being 50/50.

1- The concern on Kaden is not a big deal. I would probably just not say anything either way but a coach who helps the P4 school trying to poach the player he wants to retain would be dumb.

2. None of the players who left South Carolina that have not gone P4 are players I really felt like we should want. Just because Team Clark took just anyone does not mean Loggains will.

3. Former NFL people will often tell stories of when they were in the NFL. College coaches will refer to things they did at other schools sometimes as well. I do think it can wear out if you use it too much. Have heard of a college coach saying "When I was at Alabama or UNC we did this or that" be something that players wished they did not have to hear all the time but it happens. Smart players will lean in to the NFL experience and try to learn from the lessons being taught.

We gave Team Clark 5 years and I think we need to give Team Loggains more than 5 weeks. There is no benefit to our program or fan base by pushing negative spins like this. Give Loggains time. If you can't stop with negative spins then I will agree with ASUTodd that you might as well go to the UCF boards.

I for one am not going to miss the "Stars" from last years team...I hope this new coach builds a team. I think a coach makes a quarterback good with a great offense. I don't think a quarterback can make a coach good....or a receiver can make a coach good. Everyone has to do their job on every play to make a coach good.
