Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Team Clark had a habit of creating scapegoats. In 2022, the scapegoats were Geep Wade and Cam People. In 2023, it was Sheri Everts (before everyone turned on her). In 2024, it was going to be Frank Ponce.
I think if Athletics is tired of leaks, they shouldn't keep EVERYTHING close to the vest. "The more you tighten your grip, the more slips through your fingers." Being open about non-season-ending injuries, practices and depth charts, for one, would be a fresh change and build some trust where some people aren't digging for more information or in my Twitter DMs saying "keep my name out of it, but...."

Yeah good point. When there is transparency, don’t have to worry about secrets.

I think in this case we might have a few folks who are upset Shawn was let go and want to resist or vent on things they don't like about Loggains. People who are more secretive are those who have more to hide. I don't know that something nefarious is going on in Boone but I would not be shocked with the way people are so secretive. People like us are ones who they should be glad care and want to keep us in the loop. We are not the enemy.CharlotteApp05 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 8:52 pmYeah good point. Injuries shouldn’t be discussed. I wouldn’t want the opposition to know who has some soft spots to exploit.T-Dog wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 8:48 pmTeam Clark had a habit of creating scapegoats. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Jerry Moore believed in cleaning house when taking on a new job. At least he did at one time.

Agreed. There is a lot we should know but injuries are one thing that nobody but coaches and players need to know.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:23 pmInjuries shouldn’t be discussed. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
All but the strength and conditioning coach left for South Carolina in '89 plus half the team either quit of left for South Carolina.
Only time will tell what the results will be in 2025.
We did make the playoffs in '89 and beat Wake Forest too.

Half the team is like a big fish story, gets bigger every time someone tells it.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
We played iron man football in 1989. Only had 12 players. The rest went to South Carolina.
Give 'em hell!

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Under Coach Clark, you sort of got the feeling the whole operation was ran in a somewhat loose, informal manner.
Drink and his staff were pretty tight-lipped, and App Football needs a return to that level of structure and professionalism.

Agreed. Prior to this year we heard every excuse and it got tiring to hear.

And the long snapper was also the punter and placeholder.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 11:58 pmWe played iron man football in 1989. Only had 12 players. The rest went to South Carolina.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Who will our OC be?
Not a fan of having a head coach call plays- too much going on nowadays. Hasn’t worked in a while. Last HC that called plays that won a natty (I assume this is still the goal) was Jimbo in 2013.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Note, I wasn't saying he cleaned house here because as you pointed out most followed Sparky. That was advice he gave to other coaches.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Mizzou was ready to get rid of Drinkwitz until he got an Offensive Coordinator and they started winning. I am not sure if that made the difference, but it did change the score on the score board.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Can’t say I’m a fan of a HC calling the plays unless they’re known as an offensive mastermind. Perhaps DL is, but I haven’t read anything to suggest that he is.
