If this D intensity had been in play versus Troy, this would have been an undefeated home stand.

Re: J Mu
I’m talking Alston, Clarke, etc getting some minutes before there’s one minute left with a 20-25 point lead. Maybe with 4 minutes left. What’s terrible about that opinion?

Gotta play them again next Saturday. Don’t want to give them confidence.

I’ve been told I remind people of a fatter, slower, less talented, but friendlier Larry Bird!

Re: J Mu
Right. That appeared to be matchup related. Again, I’m mainly talking Alston, Clarke, and more muttilib to help his confidence. We weren’t going to lose the game or much of a lead regardless if those few were in a few minutes earlier. I’m sure there’s a rationale, though.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:10 pmHe actually played Wilson a lot with meaningful minutes

Re: J Mu
a few points and questions today.
GREAT GAME APP!!!!! Nice, fun, well rounded, team win.
Nice crowd. Wish more students would show up. What could there possibly be to do today other than a great basketball game. Hopefully they are all skiing.
The AppState radio broadcast is so good.
I have asked this a few times, but never get an answer. How many tune in to ESPN+ to watch our games? I would love to know the total of this game. JMU probably gets a good amount of support from their fans and I would think we have a pretty good support. Does anyone know the numbers or how to get them?
How many listen to the App radio broadcast? I guess I am asking how many active fans from all three sources....in-person, TV, Radio???

In one word, it was petty.app97 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:07 pmI’m talking Alston, Clarke, etc getting some minutes before there’s one minute left with a 20-25 point lead. Maybe with 4 minutes left. What’s terrible about that opinion?
First post in the thread and you choose to not say anything positive and criticize coach Kerns for something so minor like three minutes of playing time.
You sound like the parent of a middle school player whose child rides the bench.
But thanks for the chuckle. Best win of the season.

Re: J Mu
9 guys saw action before the last substitution. Muttilieb and Wilson got 10 and 8 minutes each. I’m going to trust that Kerns has his reasons. Maybe Alston, Clarke, and Ezeagu need to earn more minutes in practice. Just a thought.

Re: J Mu
ad hominem much? I love Kerns and have been extremely supportive throughout his tenure. In fact, he was one of two guys I hoped we’d get and actively mentioned on here when the job opened in 2019. I was making an observation, not intending to be a criticism…Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:16 pmIn one word, it was petty.app97 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:07 pmI’m talking Alston, Clarke, etc getting some minutes before there’s one minute left with a 20-25 point lead. Re: J Mu
I’m sure he does have his reasons. Alston and Clarke were getting more minutes earlier in season. Maybe Clarke’s ankle is still not 100%. Alston is an interesting one since he was the first player off the bench earlier this year. I’m happy to see the progression of the team regardless.

Re: J Mu
I think most teams settle into a 7-8 man rotation by mid season. Looks like Threadgill is #6 and either Marcus or Wilson is 7, with Mutilib #8. Probably not going to see them going deeper than that unless we’re in foul trouble or up big with less than 2 minutes left.app97 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:35 pmI’m sure he does have his reasons. Poor use of ad hominem, your take focused on such a small part of the game and easy to refute.app97 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:31 pmad hominem much? Glad you support him, reading your post that was difficult to infer.

Re: J Mu
Got to watch the second half. Built on the halftime lead. Good ball movement and movement without the ball. Excellent defense. Looks like a different team from earlier in the season.

Re: J Mu
Interesting stat, we shot 58.8% from 3 and 53.8% overall. Another is our starting guards each had 7 rebounds.

Re: J Mu
Hence the reason why so many get into it on boards like this. Hard to infer intentions via one post. Easy to attack others with a quick message without productive discussion, like the middle school kids who never made the team. Ad hominem nonetheless.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:44 pmPoor use of ad hominem, your take focused on such a small part of the game and easy to refute.app97 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 3:31 pmad hominem much?
