By poor decisions, do you mean by Joey or Ponce? I know a lot of Joeys runs were reads to give or pull..

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
If we would have had an offense that could score any points in the first two possessions of either half or could get scores at key times when the defense (which did improve the second half of the year) gave them opportunities to even the score, we would have won 7 or 8. (Then, in games like Coastal, there were the bad turnovers) It was definitely both sides of the ball.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:33 amMaybe a combination of both. My comment is based upon the DJ Smith related podcast that had several former player's having a conversation about State of the program so to speak. So, I am just going on what they appeared to see when watching games. So, one can take that for what it may be worth.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:04 amI’ve said before offense was not the issue. If we had an average defense this season, we’d have won 9 games. The question is, did we not have talent on the D side of the ball or was the coaching just terrible? Or both?
DJ was not able to actually make the podcast as he got delayed due to a recruiting dinner. As such, he was not part of the commentary made on the podcast.

Not a very good defense and not a very good offense , seems like the definition of a 4-6 team. Whether or not it was poor coaching or poor players (or both) continues to be debatable. Hopefully we can begin to end that debate with next years team.

We didn't have the coaching we needed and we didn't have the players we needed. It is a mystery to me why there would be any debate. It is my hope next year is better.

Have had a QB, RB and 2 WRs transfer to P5 this offseason. A RB last season to a P5 and was successful. We’ve had talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
I have said I don't like bringing guys back for 6 or 7 years in general but with all he has been through I was okay with it. I figured Loggains would want the space for younger guys and my issue with keeping players for these extra years is that it causes a back log and could cost you a younger player who should have their moment now. Some folks are commenting on other boards if he could be looking at the NFL and I would not be shocked if he thinks it but I don't see it as a chance anymore. He will be close to 25 and has a lot of major injuries. He should take money, if offered. I would hope that we did not offer him any money because of his high injury risk and the fact we got so many good young LBs who are ready.
This is why I don't give to NIL though. Even a player like this who had been seen as loyal and gone through so much just up and leaves. I am actually relieved to have the spot but no player is going to be truly loyal to us no matter what and thus I will use my money to help with facilities that help the program and not one particular individual.

Diesel, is it official that Harrington is gone? If so, where is he headed? DJ Smith was asked about it on the Sunbelt Syndicate podcast last night and he said that he’d love to have him back and they were working on it. By the way…love your radio show and try to listen in whenever I can. Keep up the good work!!

There has to be a story behind the story so to speak. ...to post you are back ..then in the portal.... interesting.
If it is not the agent interference telling the kid he can get $$ somewhere else, I would like to eventually know how this played out.
If his agent has a good pulse on 8's market value and he can get paid, then good for 8.

He posted to say he was coming back. Then deleted. Now reported by his agents to ON3 that he will enter the portal.AppYosef! wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:43 amDiesel, is it official that Harrington is gone? If so, where is he headed? Would seem like he wanted to come back then staff said they didn't want him? Either that or someone talked him into NIL possibilities.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:34 pmThere has to be a story behind the story so to speak. ...to post you are back ..then in the portal.... interesting.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
I wondered if he agreed to come back but his agents had already talked to other teams about offers and thought they could use as leverage with us? Either way I think if he can get paid elsewhere he should take it and I don't think App should offer to pay to keep him. We got good young LBs and don't have a huge budget. We are lucky he stayed healthy and don't need to risk it another year. I will be curious to find out what happened and see where he goes.biggie wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 12:53 pmWould seem like he wanted to come back then staff said they didn't want him? While I wish him the best, is Brendan getting bad advice? He’s got skills, but are teams really going to pony up for a player who is basically a season-ending injury waiting to happen?

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT
We live in a world of evaluating your team on a year to year basis with NIL. If 8 is the best player on the field at the position, I want him back. If a young guy is ready and does well, he may be gone after a year anyway. So, you end up in the same spot. College football players know the how the system works. Coach wants to make team better. Team will lose some to portal so some players may get opportunities earlier than expected. On the flip side, coach may land a gem replacement in the portal, so young guy will have competition for playing time or go somewhere else. In today's CFB, coaches and players live year by year. As such, if 8 were to give us best chance to win, I want 8 on the field in 2025...if we have that option....just my opinion as I see current state of affairs.
