3 weeks ago, many had given up on this team and understand why, but you could see them
Improving week to week and now all of a sudden, it’s clicking and they are ball’n. So fun to watch! Great energy, great defense, great chemistry.
I confess to being one of those. The newcomers mixed in with Hundley and Tate have something going at the moment. How big a move in getting Hundley to return and Tate is shaping up to have one of the best overall seasons as an App player in some time.
I didn't think getting him back would be this big. But CJ has obviously put in the work this past offseason. He's much more assertive driving to the basket, playing with his back to the basket, and defended down low. He listened to scouts and took their criticism to heart.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player improve so much from the junior/senior year to their last year in any sport. He was been amazing.

He does have that swagger this year. I never saw him flex on people until this year. Could be my eyes getting old but he does look to have added a little weight, not much, but some. And muscle. He seems mean this year, as does Beaubrun. Also, he may have not had that role last year, let Spillers Abson and Gregory be the enforcers.
Keep it up CJ and Beaubrun.

I too was in this group and thought back then this was just a mediocre team on the verge of a .500 or worse season. Just needed some patience and the guys are starting to gel early in conference play. It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a string like this of 10-15+ point blowouts and hope we curb stomp JMU again tomorrow.

Personally, it can take a minute to switch from football brain to basketball brain. In a football season, each loss is pretty huge. In basketball, especially at the mid-major level, a handful of losses really isn't that big a deal. It's all about winning at the right time. I just hope the team continues to improve and isn't peaking right now.
Non-conference means very little, unless you're somehow able to run the table. Hell, the conference schedule used to mean only slightly more, until they put in this new tournament bracket. Now, anything outside of a top-four seed puts you in a horrible position. I don't care for the new tournament bracket, but it does put value on regular-season conference games.

I like the tournament bracket. Mid-major conferences should be putting their best possible team in the NCAA tournament for seeding purposes. Now for the SBC that likely doesn't matter this year as no one is getting higher than a 14 seed, more likely a 15.
