It’s early, but we moved up 77 spots this week to 144 in RPI.

Surprisingly Queens is 111 RPI.
ETSU is 36 (impressive)
High Point 56

These losses, while still bad, don’t look as bad now… Let’s beat them next go round.

Strange rankings for sure. Xavier is 4th at 8-13 and North Dakota St is 22nd at 4-14. 😂😂

These ranking were from 3/13 prior to the TXST series where TXST was 115….. we should definitely move up. Need to take care of Charlotte.

RPI won't be a problem if we play well. There are a lot of solid teams left on the schedule.

SBC is a legit college baseball conference. We need to beat the CCUs, Stinks, and USMs of the world...or take 2 of 3 series...not saying we are talented enough to do so as I do not believe Tx St is going to be at top of conference by end of year.
We take it one series at a time.

So got to give credit where credit is due. Pitching dropped to 7.44 ERA (still last in SBC but big drop in the last 7 games) BW top 10 in ERA and JF T-2 in saves. 16 conference wins get you out of SE day in the tournament.

Really excited to see where the staff can get too. 6.00 ERA would make us pretty dangerous.
Mixing in Zang Oblen and Welch should help if we can get those 3 ramped up and maintain good health elsewhere.

Pretty much dead last in most pitching stat categories even after a 3 game sweep...but it could be worse?

So still almost a full run away from 13th but if they can get to the low 6.00's they can make some noise for sure. Except for the bottom 4 the rest of the league is under 6.00 which is pretty good for the SBC as a whole.

Then I just took a peek at the ACC for sh@ts and giggles and they only have 1 team over 5.40 ERA out of 16.
11 out of 16 under 4.50

Edit 1/2 have a better OCC the rest are playing the bottom dwellers mostly from the north so ERA's should bump in conference play.

Not comparable...but just over the mountain, UTjr has a 1.72 ERA....that's unbelievable at the collegiate level.

Our ERA should be lower than what it is though- Probably in the 6’s. I’ve noticed we’ve had a lot of plays been called hits that should have been errors. For some reason the scorekeepers have been giving benefit of the doubt to fielders. Pitchers should always get the benefit of iffy fielding, especially at home. So, while high, there’s a game within the game on ERA’s and some of it is just who’s keeping score at the time.
Our fielding % at .962 should probably be couple ticks lower due to these judgement calls.

That’s usually made by the sport’s SID, but it can be changed after the fact with a phone call from the coach.

Was wondering how that works and wasn’t sure of the process. Assuming same situation and process when we play away?
A lot goes into the numbers… are we on Natural grass vs. turf? That might have some effects on it as well. Also have been playing in a lot of windy atmospheres lately.

Weather for tomorrows game at UncConcord looks awesome! Sun and upper 60’s during game time. Hope to see a great Mountaineer contingent. Safe travels to those attending.
