Re: The Tournament….
Flopping should be a no-call. The flopping player can’t play defense from his backside and gives the offense an advantage. Play on.

Ain't no way a B1G school will get called for that travel. At least not against a MWC or similar school.

No dog in the fight but they deserved better. Must have been Sunbelt officials.

We're way past those days. It's much worse than that now.

Re: The Tournament….
Sports evolve over time. That's why it's so hard to compare stars from different eras. But the game today is an abomination compared to the 70-90's. Push-off is allowed for offensive players, carrying/palming the ball is okay, no such thing as traveling as walking calls are non existent. Flopping is rewarded, for me it's hard to watch. I like the three ball but it has created a different game. Time to move the line back.

HAHA pretty much. Jordan was a brand just like these schools/leagues.

Love March Madness, can’t wait for us to get back in. So far this year not a ton of drama. However, UNC-Cheat got bounced, the insufferable Dan Hurley got bounced, and my bracket is looking good so far.

Re: The Tournament….
1st time since 1975 that only 4 conferences have been represented.
No surprise it’s the power 4. Consequences of the transfer portal and nil.
Now when ratings go down due to less Cinderella's (the real power behind the zeitgeist of the tourney) they will use it as justification to cut out more mid majors.
NASCAR circa 2010. They don’t understand their product

It's the second one, no offense.Apptiger wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 7:26 amSports evolve over time. That's why it's so hard to compare stars from different eras. I can't speak to the 70's as I wasn't around then, but current basketball is so much better than the iso-ball days of the late 90's/early 00's.

Re: The Tournament….
Nah it's not the second one. There are my great athletes spread around the league then ever before. 3 ball is boring. The main reason this era is so bad is that they have butchered the rules that made the game balanced and fun. The offense can do anything it wants at this point. Take 6 steps without dribbling, sure. Take 2 baby hops backwards as you "gather" for a shot, sure. Throw an elbow in a neck, sure. Please bring back the era where carrying the ball was the biggest old head comaint. I don't even know why the dribble anymore. It's like the game is regressing back to its roots before you could dribble. Pass, pass, jack 3. Dribble, pass, gather 4 times, jack 3.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 1:15 pmIt's the second one, no offense.Apptiger wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 7:26 amSports evolve over time. The ability to play tough defense has been gutted, and no I don't mean tackle people to the ground, though thay is a sport, look it up. I just mean being able to truly body up without a foul, or hand check, or something.
They have the athletes and the potential tial to out on a great game, but they don't.

Re: The Tournament….
I love great defense that’s played with the body. That’s why I liked Bennett at UVA and Kerns. When we’re playing and not reaching, and the referees understand what they’re watching, basketball can be a thing of beauty. When none of that either happens, or is played correctly but called out of context by the officials, it becomes almost unwatchable.appdaze wrote: ↑Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:11 pmNah it's not the second one. Re: The Tournament….
ACC can’t offer football or basketball. Duke is carrying the ACC right now. Maybe Clemson some with football but they even seem on the decline.
