Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
We were behind the App girls and they were arguing to the police that they were already warned and hadn't done anything since then. The ODU girl was crying before the police even got to her and the ODU fans were arguing that she was completely innocent. The entire thing was ridiculous.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:44 amHere’s what I saw: Three (definitely attractive) App coeds got into a shouting match with four (equally attractive) ODU coeds early in the second game. I’m guessing all seven were somehow connected to their respective baseball teams. I’m also guessing alcohol played a big role. The shouting was innocuous for a while (sometimes even funny: “Girl, you need to lay off the cheeseburgers” was one line) but the App threesome elevated the conversation to where the entire stadium was subjected to a lengthy profanity-laced verbal attack with lots of obscene gestures. The ODU girls retreated to an area where there were more ODU fans but the shouting continued from the App girls. First the stadium authorities told them to tone it down, then a minute or two later the police escorted them out. I’m not sure what happened to the ODU girls, but they may have been asked to leave, too. The scene left many of us embarrassed that our own fans had been so obnoxious.

Lots of drama and a little crying, sounds like some future baseball moms in the making.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:44 amHere’s what I saw: Three (definitely attractive) App coeds got into a shouting match with four (equally attractive) ODU coeds early in the second game. We seem to get leadoff guys on a lot, which is good, but we leave them where they are. Even with the heart of the lineup up. Some untimely double plays. Part of the game though. Nice day in the whee and these announcers are pretty good so far.

B1…
Easy Groundball to 2b, we’re in the shift (over analyze). Guy gets on 1st. Should be 1 out.
Strikeout. Should be out 2.
Easy groundball to 2nd, boots it. Should be out 3 but now 1st and 2nd.
Groundball to 3rd, botched the double play. 1st and 3rd now. Outs 4 and 5.
Strikeout later in inning for 6th out.
Next batter, 3 run homerun.
You just can’t give teams 6 outs.

Baseball is about hitting pitching and catching. And sometimes it rains. It didn’t rain hard enough last night.

Well , it's not Queens but a bad loss to a program we were supposed to have left behind. Our baseball program is mediocre with flashes of promise but realistically a continuous work in progress.

Queens had a rough night. 21-1. They stink, 4-23. Wow. That makes me queasy.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
That is a very fair assessment. That's why I don't get too high/low during the last 3 years. They are/have made great strides BUT a mid tier team overall until somethings get addressed with the program and unique situation being on top of a mountain. (I won't dare say they have the same characteristics of a "northern" team)
* Also just learned that road wins are not as highly valued in the RPI for some reason

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Yes we’re are a .500 team. Pitching is is pretty inconsistent (as are most college programs) the worst team ERA in the league, we are very inconsistent in the field second worst fielding pct (and errors) so it’s hard to overcome being so inconsistent with two of the three major skill categories in baseball. Yes we are like fourth in team batting avg. which is the only thing saving us from losing lots more games. Moving players all around on defense has added to the problem. Baseball is a game of repetition. Moving players to different positions kills consistency. The saving grace here is that most of the team is young. Seeing freshman and sophomores starting and preforming at a high level is certainly a good thing. There is much work to do with this team.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I'll disagree about the moving of positions. The 10-12 position players on the team are recruited because they play multiple positions . Yeah it may take a few games to get used to it and it may not be their "best" position but they are certainly capable of making the switch since most have played multiple positions since early travel ball. They are playing D1/D2 ball because of their versatility. That's part of the uniqueness on the TB/college levels. Except catchers...that may be the hardest position to play in baseball.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 8:22 amYes we’re are a .500 team. I do agree it seems like the injury bug has hit hard this year (part of the game) and sometimes that's harder to overcome.

I share this on social media but thought I'd put it here to help give everyone an overall look at the conference games. If it's not desire I'll refrain from posting them further but I personally like to see it all at once.
7-6 overall as a conference for the day/night

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I notice at https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2025/index that the Sun Belt is ranked as the 9th best conference, several spots off from last season. We are at 190 in RPI, ahead of only ULM and Arkansas State.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
What do you think? To me it feels top heavy this year and quite a few average teams at best. Looks like the average teams are gonna beat up on each other while the top heavy teams will get it done for the most part.hapapp wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 12:40 pmI notice at https://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2025/index that the Sun Belt is ranked as the 9th best conference, several spots off from last season. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Think conference is rated about right. Unlikely to get multiple at-large bids. Much of the season last year the Belt had 6-8 teams in top 100 RPI…. not this year. Apps cannot win on the road and does not do well against the higher rated schools… not a good mix.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
If the season were to end today, I would guess three Belt teams would potentially gain bids. Coastal for sure and Troy would be in line. USM and GS would likely be on the edge.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 2:23 pmThink conference is rated about right. Unlikely to get multiple at-large bids. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Hi Happ! Yes today that’s probably true. But if the teams starts beating up everyone, I suspect that either GASO or Troy could be looking on the outside….. time will tell.. that’s why you play the games.
