Omg it gets better. So he made 8 mil in his first 3 years and his agent wanted his yearly NIL upped to 4 mil as well as....a new 2025 BUGATTI chiron that's worth millions.....

Plus - he has never been the standout player that UT hoped for. Last year UT made it to the playoffs with defense - not Nico. He disappeared when they needed him the most and the coach changed from the no huddle fast paced offense to a much slower offense - to help Nico.
I currently live in Knoxville - most believe it was time to move on - even though this is poor timing.
On a side note - I am a transplant in Knoxville - not a UT fan.

Why do I get the feeling Nico could end up somewhere playing for less money than the Vols were paying him?Yosef1986 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:15 amPlus - he has never been the standout player that UT hoped for. You do have to wonder, with how he handled this, if teams will proceed with some caution. It’s one thing to ask for more money. But being a no show to practice and meetings in search of a better deal is something that you don’t want to see from your offensive leader.Bootsy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 4:21 pmWhy do I get the feeling Nico could end up somewhere playing for less money than the Vols were paying him?Yosef1986 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:15 amPlus - he has never been the standout player that UT hoped for. College football in whole should simply grant the guy his wish. You want to act like a pro athlete, go be one. I hope nobody pics him up. Send a message that players will not be allowed to control the whole process.Bootsy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 4:21 pmWhy do I get the feeling Nico could end up somewhere playing for less money than the Vols were paying him?Yosef1986 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:15 amPlus - he has never been the standout player that UT hoped for. If every school would black ball him that would send the message and deter this stuff. We have irrational people with money who won’t do that though and they will continue to spend at a chance to win.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:10 pmCollege football in whole should simply grant the guy his wish. Re: Another domino has fallen NIL
I saw that the guard for Duke has “turned down” NIL deals from a few other power schools. For one why is it still being called NIL? If a guy is going to simply get paid a salary why the song and dance with the name, image and likeness crap? Wasn’t the whole intent of that to pay athletes whose name, image and likeness was being used on video games, advertising or maybe merchandise sales (name on a jersey)? I was fine paying a college athlete if he was hawking some product or displayed in a video game but now it’s simply a pay for play negotiation and contract so to speak. All that being said if you consider the entire sum of every collegiate sport and every college athlete who plays how many are actually getting paid? I’d say right off the top you eliminate all D2 and D3 and in football all FCS correct? Then at the D1 level you probably discount most of the Olympic sports except for the power schools for some gymnastics and of course baseball and softball. Are there any D1 wrestlers or track athletes getting paid?

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL
Well in Wrestling we have lost several of our top guys in recent years to NIL deals from Power programs. It is going on to some extent in every sport. Sure Football and Basketball get the balk of the stories but we have lost kids (or not been able to get their commitment) in baseball and wrestling for sure. I have no knowledge of track and field.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:08 amI saw that the guard for Duke has “turned down” NIL deals from a few other power schools. Again this a major P5 for wrestling but Bo Bassett (high school) is getting 5 mil for his NIL from IowaBigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:08 amI saw that the guard for Duke has “turned down” NIL deals from a few other power schools. It is being called NIL because schools are embarrased to call it what it is.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:08 amI saw that the guard for Duke has “turned down” NIL deals from a few other power schools. So, the freshman guard at Dook, #7, rejected over $4 million from a couple of other schools to stay at Dook....why go to NBA...no reason...

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL
It's circulating that Nico is heading to UNC for less than the 4 mil he wants. We are going to truly find out if Belichic can coach a headcase QB worth a crap.
I haven't seen anything official though. W3 shall see. The Tarhill Wire is saying it's a high possibility.

I think Bill legit kicked the tires and passed. Unc reporters were saying it was possible earlier. Gotta suck to have TN send you packing then have the "legend" pass.biggie wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 8:25 pmHad me for a second since I haven’t kept up, until I realize that page is a parody.appdaze wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 5:23 pmIt's circulating that Nico is heading to UNC for less than the 4 mil he wants. Re: Another domino has fallen NIL
NIL doesn't exist, it's a fraud. What exists is pay to play, who will be the highest bidder for this 18 year old kid this season? Next season, he'll be wherever the pockets are deeper.bcoach wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 1:50 pmIt is being called NIL because schools are embarrased to call it what it is.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 10:08 amI saw that the guard for Duke has “turned down” NIL deals from a few other power schools.
