Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Can we change the conversation to our current players instead of focusing on someone who is not focusing on us?
Moose, do you have any idea on what other positions we are likely to go after in the portal besides DL and LB now?

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Moved some of the Joey post to the UCLA thread.
Saw we lost another LB to portal earlier today.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Thank you! Wondering if this is the last payer to enter portal or if we might see anymore?

Spring cleaning! The new world of CFB (and basketball)
Any idea on how many scholarships we've got open? Feels like a dozen or so after last weeks cut.

Isn't he and the LB both a walk-on?BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:27 pmAnother out the door. https://x.com/mikeyd1019/status/1914376 ... JjADw&s=19

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
How many players on the roster today were on it at the beginning of the 2024 season, can't be more than 40 at this point.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I’m sad to see Markell go, but proud of the progress he made last season after switching over to OL.
After a rocky start, he made big time improvement. Looks like it’s paid off for him.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Based off the list below, we’ve had +-40 leave since end of the season. Talk about turning a roster over.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I just can’t see how a football “program” can sustain that type of turnover. I agree with others that I’m not sure we lost a bunch of good athletes but I don’t see how that works going forward.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
That's just 40 gone from the portal. Probably another 15 or so from graduation/exhausting eligibility... Hopefully losing 55ish is just an anomaly. Summer session starts in 5 weeks, we better have a full roster by then with everyone on campus practicing and working out together.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 10:30 amI just can’t see how a football “program” can sustain that type of turnover. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Perhaps we lose half and retain half in the new normal? Some years less , others more.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
The real test will be if Coach D is successful. He will get a coaching offer we can't match and he will probably take a lot of players. I'm hoping Gillin has been through this enough to find us a new coach and reload...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Sustained runs of more than two years aren't likely at this level. New formula is blow it up year 1, improve and retain year 2, crush it year 3, everyone exits and start over.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I think you're correct for now...You can feel the discomfort of the current format and lack of leadership in the CFB fan base and I think, probably more of hope, that the TV/Conference execs see the decline in interest as well
My hope is that change for the better is on the horizon once revenue sharing gets in place.
