According to the attached article. Data from 2023 shows that roughly 1 in 5 G5 players that enter the portal end up getting picked up by P4 schools. I’d say putting 8 out of 33 portal entries getting “promoted” puts App above the average. This years numbers aren’t available yet.

8 is a pretty good number. Assuming you mean "promoted" as P4 or better programs than us currently- haven't really even looked at who went where yet.
We did have more than 33 in the portal, unless you are just counting scholarship guys. Think we were right at 40 total, fingers crossed that it stays at 40. And that still tracks with the data, 8 out of 40.
I am referring to promoted to P4 for the 8. Of the 33 listed in the portal, all but 2 were scholarship players. I’m not sure why Hertz and Estep are there. I believe that a small part of the overall numbers in the portal is from walk-ons that may not have a spot once roster limits go into effect. I’ve seen where some coaches have pushed them in so they aren’t left out later.
Yup, 8 out of +-40 is a good number. Which begs the question...why were we not better?
Weird that 247 is showing Hertz, Estep , Baret but not guys like Hetzel, Bradford, Viega, Hoban, Wyatt...etc. Maybe they just haven't updated all our entries. Think 247 is missing a good chunk of our portal guys, even though some of those are walk-ons. Can't keep track of them all, it must be a full time job at 247/ON3 now.

Hetzel was done with football. Baret was a scholarship recruit. I think that I have to be entered into the portal for the school to be put there.

By my count we have 76 scholarship players as of today.
19 Seniors
13 Juniors
17 Sophomores
27 Freshmen
Thanks for the numbers on that. Fairly good balance with classes.
It looks balanced but there are a few pockets of individual position groups that are not as balanced as you would probably like to see. For instance, we are very heavy on Senior DEs.

I was thinking in regards to overall scholarship numbers but yes we want to be balanced at each position. I have not looked but was going to once everyone reports and roster is final in August.

I would venture to say at this point the numbers of missing from 247 for App may likely be similar for other schools. I can undstand 247 does not have immediate visibility into every school's activities and that goes for all FBS not just App.
That being said what they are reporting for App is probably at least comparable for most other schools, maybe with the exception of the top 10-20 FBS programs where they may have better details than the others.

So we think the roster is “final” in August. I’m not going to be surprised to see a coach walk out to a player from the opposing team mid game and hand him a fist full of money to change jerseys.

You mentioned the average for all schools but what is the average for the top 5-10 G5 programs? We need to compare ourselves to the top G5 programs instead of averaging them all because there are some schools with zero P4 talent that brings that average down.
Last year we only had 20 enter the portal but 14 of them went FCS, JUCO, or did not commit anywhere while only 2 went P4. We are suppose to be a top brand so we should be well above the average with numbers of players going P4.
I would be curious to see this year's numbers overall but so far we got 33 entered with 17 not committed or going FCS or below and only 8 going P4.
I imagine that the data won’t be available for 2024 until the summer. I gave you the statistics that were available. Why do we NEED to compare ourselves to the top 5-10 teams? The numbers provided were for everyone which is a 100% sample size. No need to dilute it for narrative purposes. I showed you that current information for the best G5 team. The point of calling them out is that even the best teams have guys that aren’t FBS players.
I get that you and your buddies are trying real hard to bash the former coach and nothing is going to stop that. But the numbers prove that there was talent here and that talent was seen as desirable to P4 schools. So either they could recruit or they couldn’t. You can’t have it both ways.
You are bashing him yourself by saying we had above average talent for a G5, you just are too blind or dumb to see it. We had above average talent (according to you) but were 21-19 in the last 40 games. Thoughts?
We had recruiting hits and misses like everyone does. The misses far outweighed the hits and occurred at important positions (QB, OL, LB). For a run-first offense and 3-4 defense to continually miss on OL and LB is a death sentence.

It might! I was meaning less fluid and we aren’t likely looking to add more at that point but with how things are going a roster might never be final until we get a collective bargaining agreement.

I am neither blind nor dumb Sir. What I am is an adult. I am smart enough to understand that things happen for reasons and I seek out the reasons. They are often ones that aren’t overt to the outside world. I know how to ask questions to form an educated understanding as to what the challenges and issues are. Yes, we underperformed last year. Yes we had some very good talent last year. Did we have enough talent? No. Was the talent that we had evenly distributed across the different levels and positions? No. There were many factors that attributed to the outcome but you are too obtuse to apply some mental acumen to fully understand what is going on. News flash, things aren’t all roses up on Jack Branch Drive currently. There are always issues and fires that have to be managed.
Now, you are free to point fingers at those that you blame for your tantrums. That makes no nevermind to me. You did it on 24/7 and it got you kicked off the site. You don’t have to agree with me and my assessments. Again you are an insignificant individual to my life so feel free to bash and comment on my posts. My opinion of you is that you bring absolutely NOTHING to the table but negativity and strife.

If they redshirted after arriving 2020 then they have one more year so a few are left.

To be perfectly clear, I was kicked off of 24/7 because I called Doug Glenn out for his blatant racism against our current and former players, called David Ware out for his lack of objective coverage and you were just collateral for being stuck up their ***. That didn’t sit well with the good ole’ boys club on 24/7.
I have brought plenty to the conversations. Positive and negative because things are rarely only one way.

I mentioned Easter yesterday as a potential target. He will take a visit to App. WR/TE hybrid similar to the Louisville commit this week. Loggains was part of the staff that recruited him to Arkansas.
But sure 94, I bring nothing positive to the table. Seems like someone may be overcompensating
