I wonder aloud how the schools all signing an agreement to make rules and enforce them is any different from a monopolistic argument than the NCAA that did the same exact thing. Unless this organization allows for some type of collective bargaining from the players, it is still going to violate anti trust laws. While the House agreement (if it gets completely approved) can deal with current and former players it can not remove rights of future players that aren't included and have no say in the settlement. This agreement would simply create a private organization to do the same exact thing that the NCAA did, although it would allow pay for play at a capped level. How does that not violate anti trust laws? Curious to see how this plays out.

The insurance companies have gotten into the NIL deals now. Play to certain standards/stats and you get paid. It’s sports gambling with a twist.

Any system new system that is agreed upon will benefit the haves and punish the have nots. It will be in the guise of leveling the playing field for everyone, but will level the field in favor of the haves.
The argument that you should not have automatic qualifiers but have the best teams in the tournament is total BS. Any playoff format should allow every conference an equal shot. This is the easiest way to stabilize the conferences.
When there were 5 autonomous and 5 non-autonomous conferences had they taken the top two from the autonomous conferences and the top one from the non-autonomous conferences then they would have had one at large bid for Notre Dame, because everyone knows that Notre Dame could lose all of its games in a season and still be one of the top 16 teams in the country, because of their talent and tradition. Everyone would be happy and everyone would make money. The PAC would not have crumbled and Oklahoma and Texas would not be in the SEC.
