Roster Reload!
Weston Scambler is a current App student and well connected to the team. He’s written his first article with us and he’s got me more pumped for the season than I already was! Give him a read and a follow on Twitter (X) @westonscambler

Re: Roster Reload!
Kudos to Dom and Weston. Most succinct analysis I’ve read in years. Even knows when to use “which” and “that.”

Re: Roster Reload!
That was a great write up. We have been clamoring for something. Tremendous losses of personnel but when you sucked maybe these are upgrades

I heard Kanye Roberts hurt his knee again and is out for the year. Hope it isn't the case.

Re: Roster Reload!
What?!? I would hate that for him and for us as well. Was excited off season changes could lead to a big year! I'll check in and see what I can find out and report back.

Re: Roster Reload!
that was well written. Dang, didn't realize how many starters we lost! some really interesting new guys, but sounds like we'll have some growing pains this year. Just hope we get a good QB.

Re: Roster Reload!
"It marks the beginning of a new era for app State football"....until next season when the roster is completely overhauled again and we get to read a similar article.
While I appreciate this article as being a great summary of all the changes and a way for fans to get to know the new players, it's kind of depressing in that this is now the norm for college football.
I will always support the black & gold in some form or fashion, I just don't know how much longer I can support this sport at the collegiate level...it simply is just not the same.

Re: Roster Reload!
We used to throw around adjectives for our team like rebuild or reload (that was the best one). The one description I’ve seen used that I don’t see as reality is growing pains. As soon as we see some real positive growth the best young players will leave. I’d asked before if we will ever really see an App HOF player again? Are we really going to put a one or two year great player in the Hall? Sign of the times.

Re: Roster Reload!
I agree. I’ve always had a passion for the game and made some decent financial commitments to it the past few years. But the current version is more of an entertainment proposition for me.APP93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 18, 2025 10:12 pm"It marks the beginning of a new era for app State football"....until next season when the roster is completely overhauled again and we get to read a similar article.

Re: Roster Reload!
Personally, I feel like if a transfer had to sit out a year from playing....this may curb some of it
It is not going to curb someone getting $1.2 million as that is hard to pass up.... however, it may lead to the $1.2 million not being paid or a lower amount if team paying is not getting an instant return on investment...
Just need some deterrence from this instant free agency each year.

As long as students are free to transfer there’s no way an athlete having a sitting out period is going to pass antitrust.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:07 amPersonally, I feel like if a transfer had to sit out a year from playing....this may curb some of it

The only thing that will stop that is collective bargaining which is the full professionalization route

Agreed! We need someone to be that guy with WSJ and Watauga papers not doing great coverage. I don’t know if Dom reached out to him or he reached out to Dom but glad they made the connection happen.

Bingo. Gonna have to have a CBA and it starts with that.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:13 amAs long as students are free to transfer there’s no way an athlete having a sitting out period is going to pass antitrust.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:07 amPersonally, I feel like if a transfer had to sit out a year from playing....this may curb some of it

Look at the bright side…the author of the article can pull it out each August, change a few names, make a few tweaks and
HEY PRESTO
The article is just as relevant as when he first wrote it
