Beat the brakes off of Maine and avenge the 2011 34-12 loss I had to endure as my final football game as a student!

If you have no other reason to show up, let’s at least have a strong showing that day for Kornegay…think of the emotional suffering he’s endured over the years after that bitter loss to the Bears. He deserves to be avenged, right? :D

I remember watching that one at a sports bar. Or at least part of it. An otherwise forgettable day to be sure, but my recollection is that was the day I realized we really had slipped and weren't a championship contender anymore.

Wish we could avenge the day Matt Sczcur beat the brakes off APP.

That Maine 2011 loss was the catalyst for a lot of needed change. 2011 was a turbulent year even with the 8-4 record. Kendall Lamm quit the team because of the OL coach. That was the season where the "Quick is open!" meme came from. I remember being at Wofford for a loss and the offense finally threw to Quick in the fourth quarter to a mock cheer from the App people there. Then only getting three rushing yards versus Maine led to Chris Moore, Jerry's son, being fired. Charlie had to do it because Jerry wouldn't fire his son. Speir took half the coaching staff to Western with him and the S&C coach went to Colorado State. That was when Charlie decided to bring back Jerry for one more season (with a good pay raise) but he had to hire an OC. It was originally going to be Bill Stewart, but then Satterfield came back to the mountains to visit family for the holidays. Satterfield going from FBS OC to FCS OC was a big deal, even with the unofficial head coach in waiting designation, and he hired a tremendous staff (his S&C hire was a major miss, but he rectified that two years later).

Had it not been my last game as a student I would have long forgotten it as well...Dare I say that a Busch Light was not safe that evening

So much of that history has been glossed over, for me that was a lower point of the program than last year.

Remember the show that was put out and had Chris with his legs up on the table during a meeting while dipping and spitting..... Love Jerry, didn't care for Chris.
