Having seen exactly one game from Swann and comparing it to all games I saw of Aguilar (almost all of them in person), my take is that Swann is better. No forced throws; no 50/50 balls. He is just a better field general.

The App’s future is bright. So. Miss. will be a good test. If we are good enough to beat Boise, and I think we are, it could be a great season for App fans.

What impressed me more than anything else was it appeared the coaches had everything prepared and ready to roll! Quite the contrast from looking like a deer in the headlights. Especially on D. And how great did it feel to stop a team for 3 and out on their first possession!!!!!
Sadly, because that UT QB who went to UCLA is such a head case I think App State and Tennessee both upgraded their QB position. It is early though. Swann has to show consistency but it does appear he might a better decision maker.

Southern Miss is a huge test because they also have good QB play and it will be on the road.
Saying App upgraded after losing the single season TD leader in program history is interesting. Joey is somehow good enough to start at Tennessee, a bonified CFP contender, but App somehow made out better?

I would have been interested to see what Joey could have done with this staff, in this offense. He’s clearly got the stronger arm, more mobility, etc. Would have been nice to see how much of last year was on him versus the staff but now we will never know. Unfortunately last season tarnished what would have otherwise been another program great.

Joey was also a good guy. A good person. People want to ignore that.

Comparing the two especially with the huge gap in sample size is stupid. The one game over analysis many on here do is suffocating at times. I can’t believe sometimes how stuff is totally beaten to death. Even the seamingly non stop coaching references.

I was talking about QB situation as a whole because I think we will be better shape this year. It is so early though. However, this thread was not started to compare the two. It is meant to congratulate Swann.

There is a lot of talk about Joey on the UT message board for those who want to have it: https://247sports.com/college/tennessee ... forum-114/

Swann should have looked better in his first game for App than Aguilar considering he has 13 prior starts in the SEC. Comparing the two isn't really fair. Regardless, thought Swann looked pretty good overall. Underthrew a few deep balls, arm strength is probably one of his limitations, but he looked to be comfortable in the pocket. His experience starting for Vandy is probably one of the main reasons he won the job, he [hopefully] won't be as uptight as prior QBs for the big road games.

Congratulation to Swann, great job on the opening game. Really hope he plays as well all season.

I think we are ok at QB1 , 2 and 3 . Our lines will be tested down the road though and they will need to continue their improvement.
