In the past....every time we start talking about getting our backups meaning reps, our startes don't hold up their end of the bargain as the games have ended up being too close.....In the past.

You don’t want to pull the starters too early but you don’t want to leave them too long either to risk an unnecessary injury. That will be the balance and coaching test this week if the team plays up to its abilities. It is a good game to have before traveling for a tough conference matchup.

You also have to keep in mind that the coaches come from an NFL mindset. The NFL really doesn’t pull players until the 4th quarter. Do you air it out to get up early and then run with the backups? Do you run base stuff only? Do you try something new? What do you do with McCantos and Willis if the team is ahead? These are all questions to ponder. I don’t know if it will be a 60+ point blowout like some may expect but there are no excuses to not easily handle business.

This game is still important to me because it will show the mindset of the staff and especially the players. Do the players have that killer mindset? Can they execute at a high level on a consistent basis? That was the trademark of our great teams.

Another thing to consider is that this is a good opportunity to get the run blocking shored up. The counterpoint to that is that we aren’t real deep at RB so while you want to get guys some touches, we can’t afford to lose anyone for an extended period of time.

Keith should play this week, or at least be dressed, which will help that to your point. He had a toe issue that should be good enough for a few carries as long as there are no setbacks. I would still hope that Alexander gets the most carries this week if the score goes the way it should.

If we have RBs that will redshirt as they get to play a few games..play them after the first drive in Q3 if we have a big lead. I have always liked the idea of starters going through normal routine through halftime...

With the changes in CFB I have completed changed my thinking on redshirting. Granted I’m not on the coaching staff but anymore you can’t even think or worry about saving someone for another year.

Been preaching it for a couple years. If they are ready, play them. If they aren't, and you're up by 30, play them. Not a given they will even be here next week.
It's almost like you play them so someone else get's less of them (eligibility wise) when they transfer haha (this is extreme but who knows)

The throw to Grier against Charlotte was a ball I’ve never seen an App QB make. That was an NFL like throw solely due to his height. He could basically throw it flat out because of height. That was interesting to see. Very Joe Flacco esque.

I had a behind the QB view of that from the end zone. It was dropped in a bucket. A "window pane" throw.
Would love to see him get a couple of drives and get his legs involved too in the RZ.

I use to be all in on the running quarterback but the older I get, the more I appreciate guys who can navigate the pocket to make plays downfield by making full field reads. I could be wrong but I highly doubt Kohl is that much faster than Swann, at 6’7.

Fair point. We all expect Kohl will get some snaps tomorrow, but I doubt we’ll see DLO tweak anything for Kohl. I figure the staff will keep things vanilla to deprive upcoming opponents of any good intel.

Sure you can in the technology age. You drag the program to a folder on your computer (with cloud backup of course)...organize the folders by season,...you can view in HD anytime you want. What's even better....scenarios like this.....you can be resting at a lodge in between going out on an African Safari (in Africa of course ...none of the virtual African Safari BS)...access those electronic programs while in Africa..it's an App. St. fans dream!!
