The Good, The Bad and the Ugly- Lindenwood

Unread post by t4pizza » Sun Sep 07, 2025 10:24 am

After a game like that, it is hard to find anything good to say, but here we go.

The Good- we won the game and are now 2-0 for the first time since 2019.

The Bad- Turnovers and penalties. Most teams that lose 4 turnovers in a game will usually lose the game. If that continues, we will have a very long season. As if the turnovers weren't bad enough, we continue to make too many penalties, 9-80 is just not good, disciplined football.

The Ugly- A 20-13 win against a FCS team is about as ugly of a win as one can have. It wasn't like we pulled our starters after going up 14-0 in the first quarter, in fact we didn't get to pull them at all because we could never pull away. The last FCS team that played us this close was when Liberty took us down during the FBS transition year, but that game went into overtime, and we put up 48. To only score 20 points against a FCS team hasn't happened since we were a FCS team. Let that set in a bit, we haven't ever struggled that bad at scoring points on a FCS team since we have been FBS. We have to play better.

Good - Defense, specifically the DL, did not regress and carried the team. The offense and special teams continually gave them bad situations but they delivered when called upon. I am really not worried about the defense a ton, but I do think we are vulnerable in the passing game against a good QB.

Bad - Agree with you. Coach wanted a clean game and got the opposite. It was disappointing to watch.

Ugly - Outscored 13-6 after the 1st quarter.

We’ve got to get better. I think we will but we need to see it Saturday.

The Good - defense and kicking
The Bad - penalties
The Ugly - offense

The offense I think was ugly because we played a simple scheme and that always throws an offense off.
The penalties are rediculous and have to get better.
The defense will grow and is surprisingly better.

Didn’t see much good other than the Win. Should have wiped the floor with that team.

Good- young FG kicker is perfect for the season.
Not Bad..just not sold on D yet. To me anyway, I have not seen significant pressure when we rush just our 4 lineman. Seems pressure is predominantly from a blitz package. We will see better QBs that will hit the hot RB/WR that goes where the Blitzer just left for an open spot.
Ugly - two weeks of fumbles in Endzone due to being careless.

Trivia question that I do not have the answer
Prior to Charlotte game, when was the last time we fumbled through Endzone due being careless like last two weekends? (I do not count Tucker fumble against Beach Chickens as not in Endzone and do not recall him being careless as the last two weeks)

Don’t know the year, or if he did it at App, but Damon Scott told me that he had done it once.

Damon Scott was a very good running back. A workhorse.
