35,000 for Lindenwood. It wasn't that long ago that breaking 20,000 was a huge deal.
I remember a cold Nov. Sat years ago when there was maybe 3,000 of us in KBS vs Maine

All the “hate” of Mountain Music… If I recall correctly it debuted in KBS during Coach Moore’s last season at his request. Has been a mainstay ever since. For that reason alone it needs to stay. That said, I must say Yosef with the banjo running around the field lost pregame has become a bit corny.
I really wish we'd lean more into our bluegrass roots...we have a huge mural of Doc Watson and a statue on King, yet we play a song by Alabama about leaving the mountains to go to a cajun hideaway. Sweet Appalachia by Del McCoury band is much more fitting option, imo.

Count me in as one who does not like the new “Welcome To The Rock.” I like the thinking outside of the box, and the attempt at fan engagement, but some things don’t need fixing.

Leave it to Sean Connery, Jerry Moore, Luke Combs. Keep it simple.

GO APPS!!
Agree. Oddly enough, the only tradition recently with the ops staff, is trying to change/create new traditions…
Exactly. If you want cool traditions you have to keep doing them every week, every season. There are plenty of dumb/cringe-y traditions all across college football that fans love simply because it's their team's traditions. Instead of chasing fan engagement, keep doing the same thing. The fans will get into it eventually, especially if it's something that can be predicted (Mountain Music between 3rd/4th quarter).
I was spoiled and in school from 05-09. Band was smack dab in the middle of the strident section. There was music, but more of the band. Without music, it felt like you were more engaged; having to yell earlier before each play. Additionally, student tailgating was first come, first serve; I remember getting out there at 6am on Saturday.

It just feels overcomplicated and sloppy. And yes, I sound like an old man.

Also, count me as one who misses “welcome to the rock” and Yosef coming out on a Harley (even though it was a wake thing). It was badass and simple
Although I was not in a fraternity the loss of the Duck Pond Field eliminated a lot of student tail-gating. Granted it was the Greeks but they did party. Then they all lined up on the first 2-3 rows of Conrad Stadium and really got into the game.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

The ticket scanning and WiFi were great, everything else fell apart.
They couldn't get my tickets to scan so they just let us in.

We have no traditions at this point. Our ignorant athletic department over the last decade or more have eliminated most any traditions that we might have had and tried to copy other schools traditions for who knows why. We are over 100 years old as an institution and have no traditions. Its just sad.

Our general gameday experience is just sad compared to what it could be with our facilities, location, culture, and yes even within our budget. Our athletics drop the ball hard there. Like others have said though, as long as we are still pulling 35k fans they aren't going to care and will continue to butchers things until it hits them in the wallet. Nothing else seems to matter anymore.

Also, NC states scoreboard and sound system they installed in 2023 was $15 mil.

I've mentioned before I think miller hill should bowled in. It doesn't have to be seats. It can be terraced concrete only seats. If you did that you could actually get more students crammed on the hill if thats what people are wanting. It could also be a great place for the frats/sororities to really set up and go nuts. It would give them a bathroom close by as well.

But alas, what do I know.

The most practical & easiest way to make this song totally ours would simply be dubbing in the word “mountain” for “cajun”…we float on down the river to our mountain hideaway!

I've heard that theyre going to put seats on Miller Hill in some capacity, i think i heard permanent seating. As I write this, I honestly dont even remember who I heard that from but I think it was someone I trust to at least semi be involved in those conversations.

(i realize this isnt all that helpful because i dont remember the source or a timeline, but i do think its a conversation thats happening inside the building)

💯 Sweet Appalachia!!! I love that song….“Can call me hillbilly, can call me mountain man, I am Appalachian.. Appalachian is who I am.” Totally needs to be added and better than “ain’t no mountain high enough”…

What I like about Mountain Music is the known tie to Coach Moore.

They did send an email about hearing everyone on the sound system.

Although I was unable to attend I watched on TV and I have come to this conclusion. If we're making game day as student-friendly as possible and making the experience as much about the students as possible then do away with the canned music altogether, except when the Band of Distinction is in transit or moving onto or off the field. Allow the BOD (made up of students) provide the music and in-game enthusiasm and spirit. After all we attend the game to watch the student-athletes, why not allow the student-musicians and cheerleaders do their thing?
The majority of students at the game don't care about the band music though. They are going crazy during most of the canned music (a lot of it I haven't ever heard before and most of those sound the same to me).
I wouldn't say they don't care about the Band music. They just react differently when they hear 20 seconds of a popular song over the loudspeaker. It's also about placement. The best place for the band is in the lower East stands directly across from the students and near the hill. The end zone location is in another world from the Miller Hill "festivities"
Speaking firsthand as someone in the band, the current students couldn't care less about us.
I’m sorry to hear this! I LOVE hearing the band March into the stadium and play during the game. Thank you for the hard work you guys put in!!

Word is that App State is bringing in a company that specializes in stadium sound to redo the sound system.

Which one? My neighbor works for one of them and would probably have something to do with it if that’s the case

We have had the same discussion about the speakers for years now. Seems like an easy fix yet nothing ever done. All of these things that have/are going wrong could be fixed. It's not like these home games are a surprise. We usually get a year or more in advance notice.
We've had so many discussions about fan engagement over the years that the only conclusion one can draw is that the athletic department simply does not care how the fans feel.
If you are selling out there is no incentive to change.

I've heard the name Danley Sound Labs, but not for certain.
