I hear you loud and clear and I agree to some extent. However, I would say with the money we and most of our conference peers have, we should be better than a .500 team in the Sunbelt. Among the rest of the G5, there are some who fork it out, but by and large, there aren't many big spenders in the Sunbelt and we are falling to the bottom pretty quickly. I don't think its just money. Unfortunately, I do think it will take a couple of years to build back what was lost over the past several seasons. We out gained them by almost a hundred yards. You can make an argument that the three turnovers were 28 points. It’s on the players. Poor execution, decision making , concentration? We were in a position to take control early and literally gave it away. What happened after Swann went down is another conversation.

I’d rather fold the team than win 4-5 games / season going forward.
Otherwise, we’re going to have a successful season every now and then (meaning we contend for a conference championship), and we make a bowl maybe 50% of the time. That’s life in the cheap seats.
That’s not putting it all on fans. Some of it is environmental. We can’t control it.

The problem is, success this year doesn’t mean squat when trying to recruit for next year (as it once did). In today’s world, a big part is “how much can you pay?” That’s our new world, and it’s capitalism 101. You’ll get some true believers, but most people will drop you for an extra XX dollars. The business world has been that way for decades. The courts have allowed college athletics to align to that model. Re: So Miss discussion
One thing hasn’t changed about football-the game is won in the trenches. Good linemen are getting paid more than any position, other than QB. We’ve missed out on several over the last few years because we either couldn’t, or wouldn’t, pay. Watch the second half from tonight and tell me our line play was up to snuff. Watch it for the last 4 years, even.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 9:45 pmMy point was to try to encompass the complete delusional comments being batted around along with general unrealistic expectations as it pertains to money and the ridiculous notion that if some huge pot of money shows up we will entice top players to come to Boone. I’d love to see an actual descriptive analysis and not generalized statements. The top talent also wants to play in the biggest stadiums on national television and also on Sundays next year. Don’t turn the ball over and don’t commit penalties and we are 3-0.yosef69 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 9:36 pmI have no idea what point you are trying to make hereBigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 9:34 pmI’m baffled by you guys who simply throw out the blanket excuse of us not paying enough money. I’ve got a news flash for you. For an incredibly huge percentage of fans it’s not that important. So the sure fire way to get us to what, 9-3 and the Camden Bowl is to magically uncover $20m more in stupid money? I’ll say this again, look at the AP Top 25 Monday and unless USF somehow gets a few votes it’s all going to be power schools. Please point out the great G5 who has big money being spent. Reality is quickly sinking in guys.
Does coaching matter? Hell yes it does! But the greatest line coach in the history of the world can’t make C grade players into All Americans. At some point, natural talent and aptitude will win out.

Re: So Miss discussion
The big upsets are a thing of the past, reality, we cannot develop players like we did for decades, if they show promise they are gone. However, we 100% can compete in the sunbelt and G5 with our resources and brand. I support coach, they are putting our players in a position to win, TOS and dropped passes have destroyed the last 2 games. Bowl and conf champ game is the ultimate goal going forward . . . Which has always been the reality. I’m giving coach a few years to develop a team that doesn’t give up and can take care of the ball. If you’re looking for big huge P4 upsets, you may want to find another way to spend your Saturdays. Tonight sucked, find players who can execute the basics at the G5 level .

Easy there big guy, you have no clue where I stand on the judges who passed the NIL world or capitalism as a whole for that matter. My point is simply that judged against our true peers, the Sunbelt, whose NIL budgets do not far exceed or in some cases exceed ours at all, we should not be a middle to bottom dwelling team in this conference. I'm not putting blame anywhere. Everything it isn't personal.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 9:53 pmThe problem is, success this year doesn’t mean squat when trying to recruit for next year (as it once did). My “if you don’t like it” was less to you specifically and more in general. And definitely nothing personal, I quit letting App football impact my overall mood a long time ago. I’m not out there playing, and whatever they do on the field ultimately has no impact on my life whatsoever. It’s not really subject to public accounting, so no one really knows. We have anecdotal evidence that some players chose other schools over App, with feedback that the offer was better elsewhere.

Good grief dude. We out gained So.Miss by almost 100 yards. All 3 ints were in the red zone (so took scores off table for us)..The 2nd one (returned for a TD) was a weird play off the turf.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 10:14 pmAgain nothing personal but I didn’t know we got rid of Clark to break a dude in. Yes, 5 has got to take care of the ball better, however, we basically dominated the 1st half except the scoreboard...which is key...I get it...
Once 11 came into the game, So. Miss. knew what we had...a true freshman at QB. They had 7 or 8 guys in the box... pressuring a QB that probably had zero reps with the first team offense during the week
