He was also amazed with the influence the crowd had at the Rock! That game will stick with him and our team. They learned how to win a tough one both coach and team. My first in person trip there since Troy/GameDay. Another memorable one for me as well. I bought a new "lucky" hat, that also made a difference IMHO!kornegaylw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 10:11 amFirst time HCs have to learn...Dowell seems to be a smart guy so I expect him to learn.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 9:43 amHis game management is not strong as well. But the first two he had nothing besides a draw to Dubionion. Did we gain five yards the entire fourth quarter? It’s so strange because our offense was moving it all day. Even getting a field goal on one of those two series probably puts the game away but wow he coached scared. I know Kohl was only 13/28 but he made some good passes and never really put the ball in harms way. Stark difference from Charlotte when Dowell kept looking to score. He got very lucky our defense stepped up or else this would be the story of the day imo.
Loggains strikes me as an intelligent guy so hopefully he learns and next time he calls up 3 high probability plays to get 4/5 yards a piece and seals the deal.
Epic finish and the crowd was in it to support an outstanding defensive defensive performance in the 4th quarter. The defense had great 1st and 4th quarters. Working towards putting a full game together.

I was going to post the same thought, I think Kohl is the guy until and if he shows good reason that he is not. I would like to think he has a lot of upside as he plays more games, and I don't think that is the case with Swann. He kind of is who he is at this point. Who knows.

Difference is now there’s film with Kohl and our personnel so let’s see how defenses adjust.

Not a rebuttal or a case for Swann over Kohl but Swann played last week with a strained MCL that limited mobility. If you want to use a limited sample size of both QBs being healthy, would you rather see the Swann results against Charlotte or Kohl versus Oregon St?fjblair wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 10:49 amI was going to post the same thought, I think Kohl is the guy until and if he shows good reason that he is not. UNCC is a glorified FCS school, why not compare a healthy Swann vs Southern Miss or Kohl vs Oregon St?
Kohl starts next week and I hope he crushes it keeping the job.

Swann had three picks and you can get your nuts in a twist over them if you want, but only the first one was solely on him and he would tell you that. The third one was a situation where he was trying to throw it away and got hit which flattened the throw out and that’s where he was injured. You can have an opinion that “if” he made a good throw to Dubinion,it would have been a TD and not a pick 6. These guys are going to make bad throws and miss their marks from time to time. Stroman walks into the endzone yesterday if Kohl’ throw wasn’t slightly behind. Not every bad play is the result of poor decision-making.

Kohl's completion percentage was down because some of the receivers couldn't catch a cold at points yesterday. Swann seems to be willing to take more chances but Kohl seems willing to take off running. I think our issue is receivers and their route running and catching. Also, wasn't Mbake cleared to play? Not sure I even saw him out there.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 11:18 amSwann had three picks and you can get your nuts in a twist over them if you want, but only the first one was solely on him and he would tell you that. 100% with you regarding our receiving corps. It’s an average group as a whole and both QBs have had to deal with drops. You can’t rely on your defense to bail you out every week and that’s why I would prefer a healthy Swann if we were in a shootout.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 11:23 amKohl's completion percentage was down because some of the receivers couldn't catch a cold at points yesterday. I counted at least three unbelievable catches by OSU receivers yesterday.

The three picks vs Southern Miss were bad decisions or poor throws. First one was a moment of panic on a bad snap, then the poor throw behind an open Dubinion, then one into triple coverage.
For two of those the better choice would have been to eat it or throw the ball away.
Boise was one of the worst QB performances we’ve had as an FBS program the line was banged up and Swann was clearly maybe 75%.
He’s not healthy and Kohl is the guy let’s see how he responds.
Calm down.

I will have to go back and look at the tape. How many "drops" did we have? 4 early on the screen. Definitely a drop.
For 8, I had difficulty seeing ball path from sun to shade where I sit in KBS.
Others, I thought the ball was off target to a degree... Would be tough catches.

The ball too Stroman was a bit late and Stroman had to reach back a little to get it. Not a horrible throw and not an uncatchable ball, but it would have been a heckuva catch if he was able to haul it in.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:01 pmI will have to go back and look at the tape. If our WRs continue to block like they did yesterday I’d have to agree.

You claiming someone to be adversarial is comical. You can have your opinion. If you think that all three INTs were poor decisions, that’s your opinion. I don’t agree. It’s easy for you to sit in your chair in your man cave basement and criticize effort. Swann may have been at 75% last week but a 75% Swann was still seen as the best option going into the game.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:00 pmSo adversarial for no reason.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 11:18 amSwann had three picks and you can get your nuts in a twist over them if you want, but only the first one was solely on him and he would tell you that. Kohl does need to learn to not lock on his initial option. There were times when a certain receiver was the primary target and even if he was covered he threw it there anyway. He did get better as the progressed. His mobility made him the choice over Swann yesterday.

I do like DLos offense in that we do tend to spread the ball around to our receivers.hapapp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:21 pmKohl does need to learn to not lock on his initial option. Brice Young is showing a lot of effort right now for the panthers!
Kohl was injured for USM and Boise, I’m going to trust the head coach over your opinion.
Kohl starts next week and the coach will evaluate it from there. But you seem really invested in pressing a different narrative for some reason.

He is a good play caller...He spreads the ball around and if something isnt working he tries something new...His weakness so far seems to inexperience. There was a lot going on yesterday and I think he got caught up in the moment and forgot what was going on late in the 3rd and early 4th.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:27 pmI do like DLos offense in that we do tend to spread the ball around to our receivers.hapapp wrote: ↑Sun Oct 05, 2025 12:21 pmKohl does need to learn to not lock on his initial option. We used to holler about SS and SC making the same sort of mistakes when they were new.
