Re: ODU Discussion
I believe AppDub, Bamboo, Todd and others are correct. There are outsiders and then there are outsiders. There are those outside the locker room that support the program and then those farther outside, not part of App Nation that want a story. We all know there are things said in coaching staff meetings that even the players don’t hear or know or need to know and the same goes for fans. We shouldn’t complain, happens in every profession.

Re: ODU Discussion
My position has always been that it shouldn’t have been. The offense moves better with AJ. JJ isn’t ready to be QB1.

Re: ODU Discussion
Fine. But we have 2 QB’s with very equal results. If the original QB 1 was able to play, why did he not start? I would say he wasn’t going to play. I hope he is back at the helm. But an argument could be made for each one.

Re: ODU Discussion
If you are measuring by stats and results then I can understand your point. However, watching the two of them play shows me that AJ is the better option, when healthy. The offense moves better, he can push the ball downfield and stretch the defense. Kohl is what he is. He is a game manager and that’s not a bad thing. But now that there is tape on him, teams can prepare for him.

Re: ODU Discussion
I watched the tape , Kohl made some really bad decisions. Even with our poor tackling and hands of stone receiving corps we could have been in position to win this one. I can’t say should , but could have been .

Remember how happy App fans were when Loggains promised to turn the program into a more buttoned-up, professional operation?
He’s doing it.

I’ve always thought that one of the most appealing things about the phrase is how is doesn’t meet grammatical rules. Can we refer to it in its purest form? “If you got two quarterbacks, you ain’t got one”.

You should have been here around Jason Capel was coach and he started skipping radio shows. "Turn against" doesn't mean saying "this guy sucks" on the air. Our radio crew is too professional for that. They use their words.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 12:35 pmThe in-house media is not going to turn on the head coach. You are a member of the media and you are the one making this into more than it is and that to me is a bias. You feel motivated to be the guy leading the charge or slighted by Dowell for some reason based on this one comment.
Dowell has media obligations in his contract. The Sun Belt Conference has mandatory media obligations. He can choose to save very little of substance, but saying "that's an internal decision, I'm not going to discuss that with outsiders" when it's a 1v1 interview with Matt Present was a poor choice. Just say "that was an internal decision we made."
A prominent person texted me soon after that interview (they always listen to the radio broadcast) and said "Dowell [screwed] up bad" regarding the "outsiders" comment.
That doesn't mean I want Dowell fired or anything like that. It's a learning experience for a rookie head coach. He has a roster that's not as talented as last years and inconsistent QB play. It's enough to drive any head coach up a wall.

Re: ODU Discussion
Come on folks, anybody with any sense of how programs operate knew what he meant. Outside locker room.
And right now we have and coach has bigger fish to fry. He is working on rebuilding a program that was much deeper in the ditch than most folks realized so it is going to take some time and cycles to get us back.

Re: ODU Discussion
With the guys he brought in, this team looks more talented. Losing Kanye and Cummings and the Defensive Line (kicked off) guys does hurt though.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 9:32 pmYou should have been here around Jason Capel was coach and he started skipping radio shows. Where would we be without DLo's guys?
Cummings, Dubinion, Dozier, Barnes? Some of the OL, The guys on the DL now having to play a ton (Manuel, Sandstrom, Porter brothers...etc)

Re: ODU Discussion
It’s not play calling. It’s execution. Specifically, don’t throw it to the other team and we are in a different place.

100%. A caveat is that play callers are human and are susceptible to abandoning a gameplan and revert back to what they feel comfortable with.

Re: ODU Discussion
He picked the wrong words, but anyone with common sense (an oxymoron, I know) knows what he meant. If they choose to get their feelings hurt about that, or spread some nonsense that he doesn't want to cooperate with university media or whatever, then they really are outsiders.T-Dog wrote: ↑Sun Oct 26, 2025 9:32 pmYou should have been here around Jason Capel was coach and he started skipping radio shows. When you are in a position of influence, words matter.
