I thought I would put a bow on the thread with a post trip report on our first time in Boone. It was top notch all around. Very impressive setting, campus, fans, students, stadium experience. Top to bottom. Just a great trip. 100% coming back in two years. I had a lot of great interactions with fans. A special thank you to App74 from this board for the hospitality.
You all have been frustrated with this first year coaching staff like we have been. I have read things on here about you all losing relevance or fading. I don’t know enough to comment on this coach other than that your team plays hard which reflects well on a coach. What I will say is that as an outsider, your program is rock solid. You have fan and student support which are the envy of many programs. It was just a great college football experience. The traditions. The town. The hill. You have history. You have power conference pelts on your wall. Your program is a LONG way from slipping.
We went hiking and had some good food. After the game we were bummed out and got takeout back at the cabin from a Greek place called Ambrosia Kafeneio. It was as good of Greek food as I’ve had.
As for the game, to be honest it was a great game contested at what both fan bases would likely admit to be a fairly low level compared to our more memorable contests of recent years. We are both building. I hope to be back in 2027 for a similarly close game between two better teams contested at a higher level. I hope a lot of you come to Huntington next year. Congrats on the win and I hope we can both finish the season with a win to get bowls games. Until next year….
Glad you enjoyed your trip. Sadly some of the student turnout was down compared to normal as the JMU game brought a lot of people down. The edges of the student sections weren't full at all, usually they are packed. The regular turnout wasn't great either due to being a down season currently.
I did see probably the most Marshall fans there that I've seen in a long time.

Our rivalry has come along way since the 1990's. Those were some heated matchups with a lot of venom among the fans. The hospitality from Herd fans during our trip in 2020 was completely different from our prior trips in '92, '95, and '02. I hope to make it back up to Huntington. Best of luck this week!

It was a pleasure to meet you and your family. Tailgates are much like inviting people into your home, the breaking of bread with others making for long term relationships. I look forward to visiting Huntington next year and meeting more people and families like you and yours.
