Gillin has said he wants to raise the athletics budget from $50 million to $100 million in the next 10 years, yet right now they're "taking from one pot to put in another" for NIL.
Gillin talked about having sponsor logos on the field and court this season, and neither happened.
We've all talked about the KBS experience. The crowded gates due to terrible security setup the first two games, the inconsistent sound, the choke points, the expensive concessions, and what I heard from multiple people is the horrible food to the NEZ ticket holders.
Lack of any plan to refurbish Holmes besides a center hanging scoreboard.
The pushing forward of the East Tower plan and potentially burdening the program and school with over $100 million more in debt despite infrastructure issues with the rest of the stadium.
The lack of marketing for apparel. I know Riley who has pushed for this big time and he's been severely discouraged in his talks with Gillin.
The coldness in his communications. Just a bunch of form sentences and "Donate to the Yosef Club."
Singular focus on money. Every interview its about money. After the previous softball season, he said something about trying to make money off that top-of-hill seating overlooking the new stadium. Then there's the raising of season ticket prices in every ticketed sport multiple times and charging extra fees to buy non-football tickets to more than one event.
Winning cures a lot, but much of this has been building for a while. This doesn't mean Gillin has done zilch. There's a lot of positives. But there's serious concerns about his leadership that have nothing to do with head coaches.

IMO CEOs (and Gillian is ceo of the AD) have a shelf life (like restaurants). Things get stale and new blood and new opportunities are best for everyone.
ADDG has done a good job for a long time, but there’s no mistaking we’ve taken a big step back in football and we’re treading water in men’s basketball. That’s about 90% plus of our revenue thats generated organically.

What’s truly sad is the incredible opportunity Gillin has wasted. App has a winning tradition and a national reputation, and what has he done with that magic formula?
NOTHING.
Gillin hasn’t done a great job; he’s ridden App’s reputation and done little to leverage the momentum and get more alums/fans involved. Let’s be honest: he’s always been both lazy and unimaginative. Example: why bother trying some creative fundraising ideas that may win new donors when he can just raise the price of tickets and parking passes?
To T-Dog’s point, he could care less about the fans; his grand solution is to generate more debt for stadium upgrades that may not matter in the near future. Should App spend that much money on a football project when your program is spiraling and fan support is beginning to wane? Hope isn’t a strategy, Douglas. But I doubt you’re able to recognize that.

Regarding the stolen TD: I paused that play and there was no illegal formation. We had 4 in the backfield, 6 on the OL, and the WR at the bottom of my TV screen was on the LOS. We got royally screwed on that and never got kissed.

It's a terrible camera angle, but #1 under the score widget is lined up almost exactly even with #87, especially when you consider that the DB over there is on the LOS, you can see how much space there is between them, leaving only 6 lined up on the LOS. If #1 would have moved up 1.5 yards, it would have stood as a legal play.

My favorite part about the NEZ is how they quietly remove tables each week so more and more of the Church gym basketball floor is showing. its liek the set up crew gets lazier and lazier each week. In 4 years they havent done anything to make that room a "club level" type space despite promises to do so. Its basically just a gym with folding tables set out each week and bad food. Coupled with the fact that they promised an awning that never materialized and their continued efforts to take away field-level access, I'm skeptical about their new premium seating sales pitch for the east side project. Doesnt really make you want to open the pockets to purchase the experience.

Re: Gillin
As a regular ol' fan who has never visited any of the premium seating areas in KBS, that's disappointing to hear about the NEZ. Particularly with that being the newest addition to the stadium, and the amount of investment that went into building it.
I'm certainly not a hospitality expert, but it doesn't seem like it should be that tough to make a newly constructed premium seating area nice and appealing. Just traveling around and visiting different stadiums and arenas, I see great ideas that I think could translate to KBS, even at just the minor league baseball level.
Frustrating that we continue to copy-and-paste the gameday-in-a-box experience in terms of generic music playlist and incessant 3-second snippets between plays that no one wants, yet can't seem to successfully take any of the good ideas that other places have installed.

Re: Gillin
Here’s one thing to consider about the East Tower Project. And this is coming from people far smarter than I am with money. It’s being developed to make money. True, we will go into debt to pay for construction. And true too, the current state of college athletics adds another component of risk to the project. But over the life of the building, if we can maintain seating demand at levels somewhere close to where we are today then it is expected to produce significant revenue. I’m in favor of it.
