Last night's game reminded of the playoff game against Brevard back in 1978, won on a field goal in that game too. Anyway, that was the year Watauga went on to become State 3A Champs. Could history repeat itself?

Re: Watauga Pioneers
I’m a Freedom grad and fan, but hoping Watauga can get the state championship, they have an excellent team and they beat an excellent team versus Sun Valley.
I was impressed with the way Sun Valley handled the cold, saw them versus Freedom, they’re a great team and play in a legit conference.
I have enjoyed watching high school far more than college this year, feels like the only genuine version of the sport these days. Although I know that’s not totally true in some places.
Go Watauga!

Heard weather might impact it. As in, maybe having to move time or date. Hopefully not location.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 4:46 pmWatauga heading to the semi finals of the State 6A High School Football Playoffs, currently ranked #1. Snow in the forecast Thursday night and Friday. Temps hovering in the low 30s. Depends on how they feel the roads will do.

I was at this game in 1978. My brother-in-law was a DL/OL for Brevard. Brevard hosts Maiden Friday in the 4A semi-final.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 29, 2025 9:22 amLast night's game reminded of the playoff game against Brevard back in 1978, won on a field goal in that game too. My brother and I were at the game too, I had just gotten out of the Air Force and was attending Lees-McRae (2 year college at the time). My brother's - brother-in-law was playing for Watauga at the time, a receiver. The following week Watauga won the State 3A championship.Appst86 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 10:01 amI was at this game in 1978. My brother-in-law was a DL/OL for Brevard.
