Miami will get in if the ACC champ is left out. I think Alabama is in trouble. They wont leave out Notre Dame.

JMU should be in and if not it’s so rigged.
I hate it though.
Maybe I spoke too soon

Miami will get in to placate the ACC. Duke sucks though and might be choking this awayappdaze wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 8:24 pm1. How sad is it that the ACC is in this position to begin with. P5 indeed.
2. They won't get left out or there will be a litigation rebellion.
3. In reference to the march madness comments. People only care about/get excited about/watch those first round games because they gambled on the tournament with their bracket. If america didn't have a gambling addiction March madness would still be 32 teams.

For political and monetary reasons Miami just became a lock.

JMU should be in based on parameters. Probably their 3rd best team in past 3 years. Hope they get screwed. Duke would beat their ass.

Best of both worlds....a Sun Belt team makes the playoffs and we get to see JMU get their butts handed to them.

So, Virginia was No. 17 and JMU was No. 25 in last cfp poll.
Hypothetically, if Virginia falls to No. 24 and JMU stays at No. 25, who gets the cfp spot?

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
The problem in the system is less with the CFP system (in this case) and more with the ACC Tie breaker system. When the CFP system adapted to include the top 5, the purpose of the Conference Championships now becomes to name the best (or at least a worthy) representative to the playoffs. The tie breaker should include the CFP rankings to break ties. That would have put Virginia vs Miami as the championship game and would have been reasonable.
Based on the comments of the CFP representative during the Georgia / Bama game, I think JMU is not in. I also think the CFP committee will include Miami as a nod to the ACC. I'm on the fence about Bama, but even though I can't stand them, they deserve to be included. Their body of work is far superior to Notre Dame (quality wins). They have wins over Georgia, Vandy, Missouri, Tennessee....all of which are better than ND best win which is probably Pitt. I don't see them getting bumped based on a loss in the championship game when ND doesn't have to play in one. I despise that the CFP caters to ND and feel that, if they want to make the playoffs, they need to join a conference.....or at least schedule a stronger schedule. It all boils down to whether the committee wants to piss off their prima dona (ND) or their bread and butter (SEC). Leaving out the #2 SEC team is a bad move.
That said....I really don't want to see another Georgia / Bama game this year so if they are in, PLEASE put them in opposite brackets and make Bama play Ohio State.

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
Virginia is irrelevant to the discussion because they did not win the ACC title. They can only make it as an at-large and 24 would be 14 spots too low to matterBambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 4:37 amDo, Virginia was No. 17 and JMU was No. 25 in last cfp poll.

For the 5th conference auto bid it's between James Madison and Duke (and Mountain West/MAC/CUSA champs but I think it's safe to say they are out).

I think they will bump Tulane up and they will be in. Tulane beat a ranked opponent handily in their conference championship.

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
The CFP committee always makes a point of emphasizing that they are picking best not most deserving. If that is true then there is no way JMU gets in the field with the #123 SOS.

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
Understood by-laws that the top five ranked conference champions make the CFP, what mental gymnastics will occur to keep ND, Miami, and Bama in over JMU?

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
No clue how it could possibly happen... But if it is a possibility, I sure as hell hope Dollie Madison is left out of the final 12.
Sorry, not sorry.
Could care less about how great it would be for the conference to have participant. OOC, Dollie played no one that was a top 25 power school.
I hate "dem sons of b#tches" and hope they never get into the playoff. And, yes, my personal feelings are more important than recognition for the SBC

Not as an at large bid, but that's not what we are talking about. They are now one of the highest ranked conference champions so they would get an autobid.

Re: Could ACC be snubbed and SBC get in CFP?
There are no mental gymnastics available other than elevating Duke. I don't think that happens. The ACC screwed the system and I am sure they change it moving forward but for this playoff, I think JMU just got in. We will see I guess. Any other result if a flagrant change to their own rules. The gymnastics will now be a direct choice a month ND, Miami and Bama. My personal opinion is that ND should be left out (head to head loss to Miami) but I won't be surprised to see something Miami screwed. I don't think the CFP committee screws with the SEC but you never know. With all the depth in the SEC, maybe they will. I would actually LOVE to see Bama get screwed, but I'll be surprised if it happens. All that said, I've been wrong plenty of times before. We will know soon enough.
