Yea put me in the camp of not wanting to get embarrassed on national TV. Congrats on the participation trophy JMU!
Yeah the gulf is too large now. Jmu and Boise both absolutely demolished us and both got crushed in their post season game. I don’t know how even the best g6 team can even keep up in this current landscape.

How anyone can watch this and NOT want G6 playoffs is beyond me.

“Nooo, we will be second class citizens!!”

Buddy, we already are.

This JMU team beat us by 50 and are gonna get laughed off the field at halftime.
Couldn't agree more.
I’m good with a G6 playoff but it doesn’t fix the transfer issue.

If G6 wants a playoff better start setting one up. We are seeing the last G6 teams in the big boy playoffs today. Definitely a difference in haves and have not.
Transfer issues or NIL issues, the gap is so vast it's an embarrassment. Not Tulane or JMU fault. As much as I hate the Pukes they and the Green Wave earned the spots based on this year rules. Those same rules on be in place next season.

The only reason G5 is included now is to avoid antitrust lawsuits. After this year, look for the P4 to propose something that shares some CFP money with the G5 and maybe creates something that guarantees national broadcast opportunities in exchange for the G5 not getting in the CFP.
I was just in grade school when the first split happened… agree inclusion is an antitrust token… but shares of CFP $ and national broadcasts, that sure does sound like history repeating itself and the stories of empty promises told on the only Delphi site. Once that first 5 year agreement runs out, what continues to hold their feet to the fire? I say fool me once…

Yeah, not saying I like it, but they have to find a way to exclude G5 without getting sued.

Appalachian would not have beaten Michigan if they had not played Michigan. A non-autonomous school will beat an autonomous school someday if given the opportunity.

What is really at stake is the money. The Sun Belt and American just got paid today. Notre Dame did not.

The Autonomous schools want to keep us from having any of their money.

Notre Dame probably got $1M in donations in the time it took to write this comment.

Based on the numbers I have heard thrown around you might have single players being paid more than our entire team next season. It wasn’t far off this one.

When we have average lineman leaving and getting paid you know the market is frothy.

Reinventing the FCS is a terrible idea.

Energy of this thread is all wrong. The fight should be for regulation around nil and transfer portal, not a g5 playoff.

It’s a huge slap in the face to all of us who were on the team/worked with the team during the transition era to reach the highest level of football to give up now.

It can only be regulated with an antitrust exemption and collective bargaining. That will require the elites to give up something for the good of the rest. I don’t think they have any incentive to do that.

Appalachian would not have beaten Michigan if NIL and transfer portal was a thing in 2007. Armanti and several other stud App players almost certainly wouldn't even be on the team. They'd be making good money at an FBS school by that time.

The games this year in CFP are no different than years past or FCS playoffs over the years

TCU lost by 58.
Florida State lost by 39.
Michigan State lost by 38.
Oklahoma lost by 35.
Ohio State lost by 31.
Alabama lost by 28.
SMU lost by 28.
Ohio State lost by 28.
Notre Dame lost by 27.
Tennessee lost by 25.

This is common for the CFP.

That’s a good point. The only difference is most of the teams you reference have the money and resources to reload and be back year after year. Unfortunately the App State’s do not. It’s lightning in a bottle for so many schools

The horse is out of the barn, and it's not going back. The barn burned down. The Big and the SEC have never been closer to moving on.

The third string QB at Wake was paid $75k this season and never saw the field
