Another walkon. Maybe he just wants playing time in D2? “Legacy” doesn’t get you in the lineup anymore.

Wilson seemed to not be terrible and he didn’t sniff the field all season. I haveASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 9:53 pmAnother walkon. Maybe he just wants playing time in D2? “Legacy” doesn’t get you in the lineup anymore.
No idea if coakley is good enough to get playing time but trash talking the kid of the best player to ever play for App is corny af. The d2 comment is unnecessary

Re: Portal time 25-26
And how many didn't show up? Everyone for Ga Southern was there, we were down almost 30. Perhaps it is a bunch of guys hoping not to get hurt so they can transfer, and perhaps it is a bunch of guys the coach ran off before the bowl was announce and didn't want to play, perhaps it is a bunch who don't like the coach, and perhaps it is a combination of all of that (most likely). But to dismiss the thought that many players are transferring based simply on the fact that we had enough guys to play the game seems short sighted to me. We can dismiss all the parent comments we want, but they aren't being made in a vacuum, there is a reason we are seeing them even if we don't know the real reason for it.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 8:46 pmBut, are these disgruntled parents as little Johnny did not get playing time, certain number of catches, etc.
I only know what I viewed on TV. 60+ players showed up and appeared to give their all for 60 minutes.

It feels like there is a pretty concerted effort to discount any criticism of DLO on this board by some. DLO brought in a ton of guys and a whole lot of them are leaving after one Seasont4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 10:16 pmAnd how many didn't show up? Re: Portal time 25-26
Coakley leaving makes total sense. The kid most likely wasnt going to see the field here and wants a chance to play. He wasnt really recruited much at all out of high school and most likely will find his opportunity at a lower level. Will miss seeing Dexter around town and it was a great story to have two generation's of one family at App, but the move makes sense if he wants to play.

Yep. Would have liked to see him in that capacity. That could speak to his level of talent, maybe not, but either way I hope he gets a chance to play somewhere.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 10:28 pmIt still sucks he couldn’t find a place even as a special teams guy on our 5-8 powerhouseAppDub wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 10:26 pmCoakley leaving makes total sense. I agree. I’m just trying to find anything that can keep me connected to the app state I’ve cheered for for years. I understand the transfers but bein a team made up of despondent p4 transfer's who leave after a season is depressingAppDub wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 10:31 pmYep. 1000% agree with you brother. Very hard to stay connected. The days of following a kid's growth from a low two star to a senior starter and eventual NFL squad maker seem to be over. One good year and these guys are gone. Heck, even after a terrible year like this one they are gone. Sucks.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 10:34 pmI agree. Dude it really does. I miss so much about what we used to be. The Matt Cline type players. It’s all show and no go now. Stroman gets criticism on here but not by me. What is the obsession with you and D2? Wilson could easily be an FCS QB, or possibly G5 with enough coaching and opportunities.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 11:03 pmWilson is a scholarship player. Nobody is asking to or needed to be babied, so why do you feel the need to relegate anyone DLo didn’t play to D2?

Dexter’s son was not recruited by anyone out high school. Literally by no one. He was offered a walk on spot here. I would gladly tell him that because it’s just a fact. I’m sorry. That doesn’t take away from Dexter’s legacy at App.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 11:08 pmHahah. Yeah you are allll man. Tell Dexter his son is a D2 player at best. There are now roster limits and a new environment than when he first walked on 3 seasons ago. Tough decisions have to be made with players that didn’t have to be made a few years ago when trying to stay under the roster cap.

Because people think a “legacy” leaving is some bad omen, when in reality it’s either a result of the new roster limits at play or a college student wanting a playing opportunity.
