Can we start two threads- one for complaining about the transfer portal and another for complaining about NIL?
Then, for those who want to moan and complain about it can do it there. Meanwhile, the rest of us can just discuss which players are leaving and which a coming and how they’ll help the team.

Thank you for saying it. Every thread turns into a complaint about the new environment. It sucks for schools like App but complaining every day/week doesn’t change anything.

I quit reading and commenting on this site for a long time because in 2020 every thread would become an argument about COVID.
Crying about NIL and transfer portal stuff is about to make me leave again. Which is a shame because there are a lot of interesting people on this board with insightful things to say. But every 3rd comment is “I HATE this new college football!!!!!”

It's getting harder and harder to see the point of any of this. You recruit a player and he has a good freshman season, then he's immediately gone for more money. You recruit a player and he has to sit as a freshman, then he's immediately gone because he didn't get to play. You get a player in the transfer portal who has a good year, then he's immediately gone for more money. You get a player in the transfer portal who doesn't really get to play much, then he's immediately gone to go somewhere else to play. There is no way to build a team over several years anymore. It's an entire new roster every year and it's just absolutely pointless. It's really sad after all these years of success, but I think I'm done. They ruined all of college sports.

I’m not saying you don’t make some points, and I think we’ve all felt this way to some extent about all of this. But unless I looked wrong, out of the 19 players we signed out of high school last year there are 4 in the portal. Less than 20%. I look forward to seeing how those players have developed under this new coaching staff.

I’m not saying your feelings aren’t warranted, I just think when you really break down the numbers there’s still a player development aspect to all this.

Look at the schedule. His conference schedule was backloaded where they had to play more difficult teams. Much easier for first part of Cincy schedule

I did not realize he lost the last 5 games of the season....that is a tough ending. I would take him back in a heart beat, but I do think his offense would be tough to run with a new load of players each year. His offense was/is pretty complicated to run. It was fun to watch when it was clicking.

His post App coaching career has been rough for him even before the NIL/portal. He is going to have to reinvent himself if he wants to keep his current job or get another p4 job.

The expectation gap by the fan base was that they were elite Group conference school... So, fan base has expectations of winning. Moving to playing Power schools each week and winning (even if just the Big 12) can take a while. I do wonder what their nil budget is to their peers in the Big 12 . Anyway, fan expectations do not care if you moved from an easier Group weekly schedule to a Power level conference. He definitely needs 8 to 9 wins soon.

Loved me some Satt, however it is difficult to get the band back together and do as well as the previous gig.
