Re: 2025-2026 Wrestling
Pleasantly surprised with the final score given how young/inexperienced our roster is. Gave up no pins or tech fall to a team chock full of ranked wrestlers. Lost two close matches that if the go the other way, we pull the upset.
JohnMark does so much with the disadvantages of being in a weak conference and lack of scholarships.

Dominating win against Duke. Wrestling is consistently our best program on the mountain.

Re: 2025-2026 Wrestling
How long do wrestling matches last? App is hosting VMI on Thursday and I want to make this my next visit to App sports I do do often or never do. Men's basketball is also at home Thursday starting at 6:30. I was hoping I could see the end of the basketball.

Re: 2025-2026 Wrestling
The timing somewhat depends on the individual matches. There are 10 weight classes and a maximum 7 minutes each match (unless overtime which is rare). If there are a lot of pins it goes much faster. They take a brief intermission after 5 matches. I would plan on 1.5 hours at the maximum. It’s a hell of a lot more exciting and entertaining than any App State basketball game, I’ll guarantee that!

FWIW, VMI isnt traditionally very good, so I would imagine there would be some pins to make it a little quicker, but yeah t4 gives a pretty good estimate

Re: 2025-2026 Wrestling
I was hoping 90 to 120 minutes. At 90 minutes wrestling is done by 7:30 and that puts basketball at halftime. That could work.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 1:22 pmThe timing somewhat depends on the individual matches. Re: 2025-2026 Wrestling
I know and I was thinking of more pins which would be fun to see. Hopefully wrestling can have a crowd with MBB also at home.AppState222 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 1:28 pmFWIW, VMI isnt traditionally very good, so I would imagine there would be some pins to make it a little quicker, but yeah t4 gives a pretty good estimate

Wrestling always has a crowd. It’s a great atmosphere and the team almost always delivers. If you’re able to make it, I have no doubt you will really enjoy it.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 2:04 pmI know and I was thinking of more pins which would be fun to see. Re: 2025-2026 Wrestling
I am planning to make a big grand tour Thursday. Greensboro to Charlotte to deal with a, hopefully, warranty repair in Charlotte, then dive to visit family in NW Lincoln County, then Boone for Wrestling and maybe the basketball game. Then back home before the clock strikes midnight and I have my car turned back into a pumpkin.t4pizza wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 2:31 pmWrestling always has a crowd.
