We'll be a top 4 minimum (most likely top two) if we win the last three. That's all that really matters at this point. Regular season title sound good, but our 2024 team found out what that gets you, and the NIT is no longer an automatic.

GS dogging Marshall at the moment 69-46 with 17 to go.
So if that holds, we still hold 1st after winning 7 of 8. Don’t understand the gloom and doom after 1 single loss when we won 7 straight previously. We’re still top of the conference.
Actually, USA is 1st.
10-5 and 9-4 is a tie. ESPN also lists us as “1st in Sun Belt”

The conference rightly lists USA first by percentage points.

Just checked ESPN, they list USA first as well. Their bracketology still lists us as the Belt rep but hasn't updated since Friday.

Last night's game was my fault. I've been busy a lot lately and finally got to sit down a listen to a game. Well, the rest is history.

How many double bye teams have won the Belt tournament? Obviously on the surface the less number of games to play the better but it seems like some team playing earlier always has the hot hand

If we go 2-1, we’ll likely have a top 2 seed. There are some scenarios where we’d fall to a 3 or 4. Also, if we do go 2-1, S Alabama would have to go 4-1 to finish above us, but they have 3 games in 6 days against Marshall, Troy and Texas State. I have a feeling their winning percentage is going to take a hit.

In the current ladder/Gonzaga format, zero. The top two seeds both lost last year.

Since the tourney moved to Pensacola, the only No. 1 seed to even win one game was App State two years ago. Every other No. 1 seed in Pensacola has gone one and done.

Just stated the facts but if it works I'm good with that.

Yah 2-1 (especially if a win over Marshall is one of them) and the team is almost certainly Top 2.

Win on Thursday goes a long way...

Who to root for next few days?
- ODU (Ull is way back, but this clear up a few scenarios)
- South Alabama (We have the tiebreakers unlike Marshall)
- JMU (Coastal coming on a bit end of season)
- ULM (Trash, but who knows a home)

Tbh I'd rather South Alabama run the slate and give us a bit of wiggle room. I also feel like they were a better conference matchup then Troy so I don't hate the idea of possibly being in the 2 seed vs a Troy team that's wobbled lately.

Yet many folks here think a top seed is crucial. Do Belt teams hang banners anymore for regular season champs? If they do that’s completely pointless. There will be lots of 10+ loss teams in the tournament. Can’t believe some also think an NIT bid would be great. Maybe a few more games at best then bye bye roster.

There seems to be some confusion on the history of the tournament and the importance of the byes/seeding. This is only the second year of the current format, but since 2018 every champion was a top four seed with the App being the lone exception in 2021.

Top two triple bye to semis, #3 & 4 byes to quarterfinals

2025: Troy (Seed: #3)

Top four seeds to quarterfinals

2024: James Madison (Seed: #1)
2023: Louisiana (Seed: #2)
2022: Georgia State (Seed: #3)
2021: Appalachian State (Seed: #E4)

Bottom four play-in games

2020: Covid
2019: Georgia State (Seed: #1)
2018: Georgia State (Seed: #2)

JMU wasn't the No. 1 seed in 2024, we were. JMU was No. 2.

AI goof. However the point remains, being top 4 is important.

This is a typical late season game from Kerns.
Stupid comment. Sorry he only won 7 in a row.
Turns out it was actually not a stupid comment. Late season issues have been a pattern for several years now. Our backs are now against the wall and require an epic 16 point comeback to the 8 seed
