Heard very similar. They have had a lot of people leave the support staff because of how Lombardi treats people.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 9:09 amI have no idea what this Lombardi thing is about, but I was told last winter by a friend who works at UNC that he arrived on campus with a supremely arrogant attitude and was basically a condescending jerk to everyone around the school. Re: UNC-CH FB Recruiting Violatons?
Something I saw stated that a former employee filed the complaint with HR. A reporter has said that someone on staff there told them when asked what happened that it was "typical Mike shit". Lombardi has a long history of arrogance, being a jerk, verbal abuse, pawning his work off on others, etc. If not for Bill Lombardi would only be a guest on McAfee's show. He, like Bill, can't land a job with a NFL team anymore and the way this is going I will be shocked if another college hires either of them once UNC fires them both.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 9:27 amWho knows if this is true or not
The official statement did not provide further details, and noted that university leadership, staff and student-athletes were prohibited from addressing the personnel matter. On3’s Pete Nakos is reporting that the decision stems from a human resources complaint.

UNC’s football team is being investigated by the College Sports Commission, the entity that handles compliance and enforcement of NCAA and NIL rules, per @PabloTorre.
This comes on the heels of the program’s football GM, Mike Lombardi, being placed on paid administrative leave by the university on Monday morning, following a human resources complaint filed by a former football front-office employee.

I have no doubt they are guilty but I will be curious to see if proven guilty. If so, does Bill get fired with cause before the end of the season?BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 3:18 pmUNC’s football team is being investigated by the College Sports Commission, the entity that handles compliance and enforcement of NCAA and NIL rules, per @PabloTorre.

Hard to believe but he stands out even among them. He and Bill are two of the most arrogant people in the world. Mike thinks he is god's gift to football but he has been fired from every job he has had.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 3:43 pmHow could they tell him from all the other tarholes?EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 9:09 amI have no idea what this Lombardi thing is about, but I was told last winter by a friend who works at UNCthat he arrived on campus with a supremely arrogant attitude and was basically a condescending jerk to everyone around the school. Re: UNC-CH FB Recruiting Violatons?
Lombardi called Chapel Hill the 33rd NFL team before Bill even coached a game. He's paid $5 million a year to be the Chapel Hill GM, the sixth highest-paid public employee in the State of North Carolina.
He's a Belichick lapdog who got fake Super Bowl rings and brags about being a Super Bowl winning executive. Now-dead Raiders owner Al Davis called him a nobody. Bill Walsh's son said all he did while at the 49ers was get sandwiches for everyone. The Patriots players mutinied under him.
Chapel Hill recruited terribly, had shockingly little experience on the staff and looked every bit as bad as their 4-8 record. They got a decent recruiting class this year and should be better, but Lombardi has no business as a college football GM. He left Chapel Hill two weeks before last season to try to fundraise in Saudi Arabia and failed to get some of that PIF money.
Lombardi also unironically uses a typewriter in his office and collects typewriters.

They got away with the biggest academic fraud scandal in the history of college athletics. This will also get buried somehow.

Lombardi sucks, but his annual salary at UNC is $1.5 million, not $5 million.T-Dog wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 9:11 pmLombardi called Chapel Hill the 33rd NFL team before Bill even coached a game. Even unc sees this trainwreck and they want out. They owe bill $20MM more but can save themselves $20MM by firing him for cause.
You are right if unc didn’t want any consequences they wouldn’t have any. But in this case I think they have ulterior motives.
I love to see it. Absolutely gutted we didn’t pull one of ‘22 or ‘23 out against them.

Re: UNC-CH FB Recruiting Violatons?
I am friends with a couple former players and boosters at UNC and they are split. Some think Bill is the answer and want to stick with it while others think he needs to go. One of them never wanted him to begin with. There is a huge split at UNC right now.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 10:56 amI think in this case the call is coming from inside the house.appstate24 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2026 4:36 amUnfortunately, this is true and we all know it.CheckYosef94 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 27, 2026 9:28 pmNothing is going to happen that they don't want to happen; same as last time. The prior AD wanted Jon Sumrall instead of Bill and I think it would have been a better move for him. The interesting thing I have heard is that the current AD wanted Bill and he said 2026 is a restart and that 2025 did not really count. Some think if Bill goes 4-8 or 5-7 that he might be retained but there will be a huge split among boosters and former athletes so there could be an internal war in Chapel Hill. I don't think anyone in the state of NC feel sorry for them one bit if that happens either.

I think he probably goes .500 or just above and survives this year. After this year though, who knows.

Re: UNC-CH FB Recruiting Violatons?
It is going to be interesting to see what happens because some believe if he can't win 8 or more this year that he needs to go while some think he needs 2 more years. They are spending massive amounts of money and their schedule is not that hard. I don't think 8-4 is unreasonable expectations for them.

Got to give Mike credit. He is the biggest yes man in the history of football and will stab people in the back, which both of those things impress Bill. I was not surprised he got that type of money because Bill will always look out for him.T-Dog wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2026 12:57 pmYep, missed the one point before the five. $1.5 million. Re: UNC-CH FB Recruiting Violatons?
For sure. As bad as he and Bill are this could not happen to a more deserving school. I hope they find nothing in the investigation and Lombardi and Bill are there a long time.
The only tidbit I have heard was that Mike MFed someone in front of the whole staff, male and female company included, and it was extremely vulgar. I can't imagine that is what got the complaint though. The girl who is rumored to have filed the complaint has a brother who played for VT so she grew up around football and knows how the language can be at times. I would imagine some reporter from UNC or a national reporter will come out with the details here pretty soon.

Interstingly saw an article on wghp today about how much it would cost for them to fire Bill.
