RADFORD — When Maryah Sydnor returned to the New River Valley for a game last season, she managed only one basket.
This time she got a win, a giant chocolate chip cookie — and a milestone.
The Radford High School graduate scored 24 points in 24 minutes and reached 1,000 points for her college career as the Appalachian State women’s basketball team squashed Radford University 83-60 on Monday in front of a small Dedmon Center crowd that included Sydnor’s family and familiar faces from the community.
“You can’t ask for anything more,” Sydnor said. “It was just really exciting.”
One interesting note from the article, she considered transferring to Radford after last season. I think everyone who watched the Lady Apps last year realized it was a tough year for the team and their coach. The relationship between coach and players seemed a bit off last year.
