You could have misunderstood what I said. I was not calling Swann a mobile or RPO qb, but just saying he was a better QB than his stats show due to a serious injury.
We saw very limited runs with Kohl because he was as tough as wet cardboard.
Agreed. Swann's injury in the third game killed his season. Looked good versus Charlotte but after the first quarter, was poor versus Lindenwood.
My general point boils down to, even if Singleton was here last year, I don't think he's running the ball much by design as he likely will this season.

I think Swann looked great against the worst FBS defense in the nation.
His decision making was poor and struggled to play within himself.

Just saw an IG comment where David Larkins said versus JMU last year their defense was calling out the App offensive plays right aa they lined up. And being there and seeing that entire game, I believe him.

We run like 5 base plays. Stretch zone, dive, stop routes, fade route, tight end in the flat. Hopefully we see some creativity this year.

One would think that with 97 years (for whatever the number was) of NFL coaching experience on the sidelines that wouldn't happen.

That’s my line of thinking as well. A seasoned NFL OC should not get worked by SB DCs.

When the former coach was getting worked, it was “oh they are paid to win games as well”. Funny isn’t it?

A guy with the NFL pedigree has an OC should be able to identify a weakness and work up a plan that could exploit said weakness. As it was stated earlier, David Larkins posted on IG that JMU knew the offensive play that was coming based on the alignment. That is utterly shameful that a guy with his experience was that vanilla. When you and DLo have you weekly date night, remember that it’s a popsicle, not a snow cone.

Slow down bud. Get off your high horse for a second. I was ripping the difference in response to losing by AppSt94.
Additionally, this is a sports forum. If you cannot handle talking about any sport as it relates to App or any former coach, then this may not be the place for you. I believe there can be discussions about the past while remaining respectful of the current reality.

Shows the talent level on the field if the scheme was that vanilla. This is about the 3rd time you have alluded to me sucking off the coach. 1.) it’s a shameful response. David ware taught you better. 2.) what is your obsession with sexual innuendoes? Twitter and your GFs not satisfying your urge?

"Shows the talent level on the field" that JMU knew the plays.. you cannot say that with a straight face. Even if talent level is not up to par, the OC can run different plays from the same offensive set at the line.
If one wants to say we were not as talented as in the past, that is one's opinion. But, when an opposing team knows the play call when a team is setting up before the snap, that is typically the other team has cheated in some form or fashion (see Michigan Wolverines) or the coaching staff is indeed calling the exact same plays from same setup pre-snap. By the time of JMU game came along even with all the new players, there had been plenty of time to run different offensive plays out of same pre-snap setup. DLo got his a$$ handed to him at JMU. Plain and simple. Hopefully he learns from it.
Personally, although the total yards for the year were not significantly more during his one year tenure, I thought Barbay (sp?) was actually pretty good at running different plays with similar offensive pre-snap sets.

The best at running different plays with the same formations was Georgia Southern. Remember how they would run about 15 different things out of one formation? That triple option was the hardest to stop because they could run the same formation and still would not know what would come at you.

Points were down in 2025 versus 2024. YPG went from 426 in 2024 to 384 2025. You can argue with me all you want to make yourself feel better but you can’t argue that the change at the top showed net positive results in the offense last year. We saw no growth from the offense throughout the year. Play calling was atrocious. See above as well as throwing from inside your 10 on three straight possession instead of running the ball against Southern Miss. I know that you are hoping that we look better now that Loggains has “his” QB now. And I hope that you are right. We will see.

The 2024 roster was absolutely LOADED
compared to the 2025 roster. In the end, both years resulted in 5 wins. The future is brighter today than 12 months ago.
