Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. Mine is based on observations of actions, decisions and behaviors. For the people who love him, how much do you know about what’s been happening at Jack Branch over the past year? How much money is being lost at concerts that should never have been be produced? And then there’s the Bigfoots…

There was a time when Gillin was good for App State, but that time has come and gone. But based on his dealings with BOT members, I suspect we’ll never be rid of him.
I do find the dealings with Ricks something that should not be happening. The money being lost at concerts has me wondering if we should be worried about something suspicious or just ineptitude. Like I said above I would not be upset at Gillin leaving. I think we need fresh ideas for sure. I wish the media would ask about Gillin's dealings with BOT members but we don't have anyone in the media with the guts to do so.
What dealings?

I have heard from 3 people that Gillin has money invested with Ricks and they are doing some business together. I was told that Ricks would likely protect Gillin because of it. I don't know the details on it but I figured some media would have to heard about it and would ask. Have you not heard that?

Since we are spreading unsubstantiated rumors like immature school children, I "heard" from my fourth cousin's friend that he has a friend that "heard" the AD sleeps all over boonetown and likes to dress in women's clothes on the weekend..
Good Grief...

What? Maybe I know Ricks does his own things but gillin makes what $500k? Ricks/Mars could spend that everyday and it probably doesn’t cover her dividends from Mars

Maybe that’s true but this is not enough money for a billionaire to protect his “investments”.

It’s not a rumor. It’s a widely known, but widely hushed, detail that Gillin and some trustee members own the Boone Bigfoots.

Gillin is a grown man and is entitled to a personal life. If his personal business dealings are not illegal, unethical or not in violation of his state employment contract, then it’s really none of anyone’s business.

I don’t believe anyone has stated any of those concerns. Are donors not allowed to ask questions? It’s better us than the state auditor. Using publicly funded employees and facilities to run privately funded businesses will raise an eyebrow or two.

Your little buddy pondered out loud that the media should ask about it. How does it affect you as a donor? Asking it here on a message board is akin to shouting into a well asking where is the water. It’s pointless. We have a compliance department that vetts these things and ensures that the risk exposure to the University is mitigated.

Donors should feel confident that their dollars are being used to better Appalachian State University Athletics. Do you not see how one could view this as a conflict of interest? Perhaps Dave Bolieck should be contacted to ensure all checks and balances were properly vetted as you say.

You are just looking for something to argue about. How Gillin chooses to invest his own money is the question, not donor money. Your donor dollars are accurately accounted for in the financials for athletics.

Okay bud. Bottom line - my dollars should be spent on App State athletics, NOT Boone Bigfoots with the use of staffing and facilities. Currently, that isn’t the case and that’s a verifiable fact. Just ask David.

Your Yosef dollars are not being used to fund the Bigfoots. Your dollars are for App athletics scholarships. The Bigfoots are not taking away from those scholarships. The Bigfoots rent the stadium from App as a revenue stream for App Athletics. Unless the staffing is being paid by the school for working Bigfoots games then there is no misappropriation of funds. App athletics and the Bigfoots operate off two separate P&Ls.

If you have proof that athletic’s resources are being misappropriated for the financial gain of the AD and members of the BoT, then you should take your evidence to Heather, Compliance and the Comptroller.

Or, better yet, share all the information on the YC. We are the highest court in the land. "The court of public opinion" 😂😂😂😂

I'm just going to comment on the potential conflict of interest. I don't know anything about any dealings. I'm just going to use what you on here have mentioned whether it is true or false, I don't know.

If he is able to keep his job longer than he should because of his investments with BOT companies, then that is a conflict of interest.
If he is using his position to allow Bigfoot to gain access to App's facilities that they would not otherwise have, that is a conflict of interest.
If he is using his position to allow Bigfoot to gain access to App's facilities so that he can make money on his investments, that is a conflict of interest.

Those are the main 3 things I see if the things you guys are discussing are true.

I thought the Bigfoots were a non profit that has a mission to provide financial support to App athletics. Are some of you saying they're losing money and App money is keeping them afloat?

That is my concern along with using App employees paid for through App money to provide operational services to Bigfoots.

Again, no one is alleging any wrong doing but some people get very defensive when questions are asked and certain topics are discussed on this board.
