Merry Christmas IGgeer...............you seem to need some of the season spirit
Hate does not look good this time of year............sorry
And by the way CC has to get approval from Mr Peacock before hires so why don't you blast him for all the same reasons............because it doesn't fit your story.
Seriously............Merry Christmas !!.........APP will change and your wish will come true someday, you may just have to wait.

Most likely, the AD makes the hire and Dr. Peacock approves it.PhillyApp1 wrote:IGgreer wrote:This horse will die when Charlie Cobb stops giving zero f**** about the basketball program.ASUMountaineer wrote:Another Cobb gripe fest. I wonder when this horse will "dead enough..."

Is it possible Dr. Peacock leaves the new Chancellor to approve the choice? After all, the next guy/ or girl, is the one that will have to live with the new hire for 3 years.

To me a risky hire means there is both a higher chance of great success and a higher chance of great failure than a traditional hire. While everyone noted the higher chance of great failure at the time (including the sports media), I don't see any reason why we should think he was more likely to have success than any of the hundreds of experienced D1 assistants and D2 head coaches who would've accepted the job. When Kentucky hired Coach Cal, that was a risky hire. We all know he can win, but there's also a concern he'll leave behind massive violations and a program in shambles. When the Celtics hired Brad Stevens that was a risky hire. They thought he was the best and brightest guy out there, but coaches with no NBA experience tend to struggle getting buy-in from players. Capel didn't have any uniquely positive attribute, only a uniquely negative attribute. He wasn't a risky hire, he was a reckless hire.appdaze wrote:I don't think hiring capel was a bad hire I think it was a risky hire. Had Capel started pumping out 20+ win seasons everyone would be praising CC for giving a young guy a shot. Stop using 20/20 hindsight to point fingers. The only part of this basketball issue I lay on CC is the extent to which he has let Capel continue. The writing was on the wall last season and nothing was done. That is where I put the blame on CC. No one could have known for certain Capel was going to be a bust. If you are saying you knew from the beginning that he was going to be a bust then you can obviously see in the future and you should be in Vegas winning millions instead of moaning on a message board. Sports fans have got to be the worst for bashing people using their super human 20/20 hindsight.
