really makes you appreciate that our coach was already on the downslope of his career when we beat Michigan and wasn't a young up and coming coach like Monken

Stinks for them. I don't see them doing any better than Monken, so this is a nice little opportunity for them to implode just a bit.

I would say raid their recruit class even further, but espn doesn't show them with any ranked recruits anyway, just a handful of jucos and undersized OL. With the coaching change it looks like a slim year on the trail for GaSo. Not very good timing for them.

i've looked at their commits on 247 and they only have 1 or 2 players that we could actually use in addition to the 1 we just took from them

Said it in several areas...but they should forget that triple option crap and hire UGA OC Mike Bobo. South Georgia guy, still young with a ton of experience.

They abandoned it and struggled. They brought it back and had sucess again. Might just be who they are.

It isn't. They just don't have the stomach to wait out a transition. The talent pool in their immediate area is vast...and those kids ain't running the triple option.

As far as offensive schemes go - I quite like how masterfully NDSU runs the Power-I and their pro-sets.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Walton now that Monken is leaving for Army.
according to his twitter account he has switched his commitment to App!
I'm behind on recruiting, who is Walton and what position does he play?

DB Kiante Walton (6′ 0″ 195) of Carver High School in Columbus, GA is a 24/7 three star CB who has been a Ga Sou commit for a while but was soft. By all accounts he was close to switching to App but Monken was the final push needed to commit to App. I have a player page for him on the Main Recruiting Page.

Very true. I think we've become too married to a system that almost every other school in The Sun Belt will run a version of. Don't think it's a coincidence that Alabama and NDSU have dominated their classifications by running power football and playing defense...no one else seems interested in doing that! Even Auburn's offense employs a power running philosophy...just from the shotgun. I would like us to employ more of that along with our passing game.

We'll have to be able to recruit more and better of the type athletes those offenses require. When was the last time we had a legit power RB or FB? Can we pull it off vs a stronger conference than we've been in for the past decades?
