The communication issue with you is how to define exactly what UNC has done. What UNC has done was clarified in both articles as well as my last post. Apparently it still hasn't resonated with you. Once again, what UNC has done is utterly unprecedented. No school in history has been outed for such a level of corruption. NO ONE has done that. It is unheard of. Unparalleled. Extraordinary.

Some people just can't handle the truth.

Can't believe I am getting into this.. but, he never said UNC was the only one... He simply said that it's not happening at all schools as you indicated.

You are asking Gonzo if he is a know all.. so I ask you the same. How do you know it's happening across the board?

All indications point to UNC having unprecedented compliance issues because they got caught.

It might be happening at other schools, but I can guarantee it's not happening at all schools and UNC is not just getting the short end of the stick like you seem to think.

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove with this link.. I don't think its any secret that athletic departments have lower admission standards than the general student body... That, yes, happens "across the board."

What doesn't happen across the board is fake classes, changing grades, etc.

You accuse Gonzo of trying to change his argument, but here you are seemingly trying to do the exact same thing...

Appgrad1 please show me all the other schools that created hundreds of fake classes dating back to the 90s..... I'll wait.

They are furiously trying to sweep this under the rug. What's sad is that the NCAA would be all up in their business if it were more about money and improper benefits (a la the Manziel autograph investigation) but theyre really sending the message that academics don't matter.

Can you please cite other examples of schools creating fake majors, where students were not required to attend any classes, yet still maintained elligibility? Stanford? Cal? Anyone in the last 15 years? Otherwise, quit using the Lance Armstrong "everyone else does it, but I don't have a lick of proof" defense.

Your sky blue blood is bubbling, I know. But your defense is weaker than a Jason Capel coached bball squad.

The Chapel Hill supporters should be more worried about accreditation right now than the NCAA or what other schools are or are not doing. The Sword of Damocles is hanging by a very thin thread and the breeze is picking up.

These people with Tarhole blinders on must have the same type of personalities of the people that are sending love letters to the Boston bomber. ;)

I think it sucks because it sullies the UNC system. When the flagship institution gets caught cheating on this scale it's a black mark for the state. UNC enjoyed a stellar reputation nationally that they obviously didn't deserve and now they are going to pay the price. They will not be able to white wash this institutional scandal.

Those with Tarheel blinders on are no different than those that live to hate all things Carolina. Case in point the gentleman who decided to post a link to an article found on a website called CarolinaSucks.com to prove a point as being valid.

I hate Roy Williams. I have no respect for a guy that leaves a bunch of walk ons on the court to fend for themselves and takes his stars that just took an ass whipping with him to the locker room. His excuse that he thought the game was over and everyone came with him was a joke.

No one hates UNCCH, they the fact that an institution has claimed to do everything the right way for decades yet they are one of the worst offenders.

Everyone bends the rules, they just took it further than maybe 5 programs in the NCAA's history.

If App had done one of the ten things they have done we would have already received twice the punishment.

Double standards and hyopocrites from the NCAA is who my "hate" is directed at.

Saint. The turn of phrase the "Carolina Way" was the name of a book about Dean Smith and the way he did things. I would imagine that those who use the phrase have no idea of it's origin. Is there any difference in the level of arrogance to the phrase "The Carolina Way" and "No Equal"? I don't think so but to each is own. As to your point that no one hates UNC-CH, you are probably correct and we should call it jealousy for what they have. It is easier to tear down someone elses success and revel in thier failures than to admire accomplishment and learn from their mistakes.

"Carolina Way" is a widely used term that characterizes to rampant arrogance of UNC Chapel Hill. More recently it's been associated with the "real" Carolina (ie the epitome of collegiate corruption). As the above Tar Heel mentioned, the term has been in service since the days of Dean Smith. Perhaps that was a time where it actually meant something besides "We're better than you."

Speaking of Chapel Hill arrogance, I recently found out that UNC has officially changed the terms "freshmen," "sophomore" ect to "First Year," "Second Year" ect. Oh, and does anyone remember the UNC online graduate school ad that actually appeared on the MMB? I believe it said "The Masters Program You Probably Can't Get Into."

"No Equal" was a three year marketing campaign for the football program. It's a lot more comparable to NCSU's "This is Our State" campaign. Arrogant? Perhaps. But not even remotely on par with years and years of "Holier than Thou" branding and attitude of "Carolina Way."

The only people on this forum who are jealous of UNC are the pitiful souls that trash their own alma mater in an attempt to defend UNC: an institution that operates to the detriment of Appalachian State and every other UNC System member. I hate UNC for a few reasons: the arrogance, the hypocrisy, UNC System domination and oppression, ect. I do not envy the Holes, especially as the veil continues to fall and reveals how ugly the underbelly of the beast truly is.

I just saw that Michael Jordan has authenticated and put his UNC Diploma & UNC Transcript up for auction at the following website. Upon review of the transcript, I find one item intriguing. During his Freshman year, 1982 spring semester, Jordan took AFAM 041. This causes me to raise the question (perhaps a big leap, perhaps not), does the scandal go back to the early days of Dean? Is Dean Smith the orchestrator of the scandal that is being aired today? Is this the true meaning of "the Carolina Way?"

Dan Kane & his staff of the News & Observer have done an excellent job investigating and reporting on the academic fraud over the last 3-4 years. I am sure it won't be long before they latch-on to this, perhaps coincendental, similarity from the past to the present.

That is a very interesting list of classes he took if that is indeed his transcript. I wonder how proficient he actually is in Portuguese. He took a lot of freshman level/intro classes as well.

I have a good friend whose son played at UNC (early 2000s) - he was one of the walk-ons who started on the JV team - he got into school because of grades not sports but even he told me that Yes he had taken Swahili and other courses in that dept - Now I don't blame any of the kids at all - Heck if someone told me when I was in college (not an APP grad) I could make an A in a class with little or no work I would have signed up - Hell, I would have signed for a B - maybe even a C

The Portuguese classes are an old joke among the folks I've known that did academic support at Carolina.

Auburn... 2004
Not 100% sure but I think Florida State did too.
Not sure about the 100's of fake classes though but there were fake classes.
Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. Been gone.
